    What the f is the point in the EFL spending money challenging a ruling only to win the case and elect not to punish the offender in the first place.
    The EFL really needs disbanding.

    I don’t get why they bother. If you’re going to have a rule, penalise teams that break them, otherwise just let everybody spend as they please.

    I’m sure there are plenty of clauses that teams, like Birmingham, use to attempt to get away with it, but you just know if we broke the rules we’d be penalised without hesitation. They don’t really seem to apply the same rules to all.

    They didn’t get off their charge?
    The article says the EFL won the appeal.
    It also says the charge was not for breach of FFP but for failing to follow the agreed plan following the last breach.

    Well no they've not got off the charge the EFL just decided to say 'guilty but no punishment' which is absolutely ridiculous

    It wasn’t EFL, it was an independent tribunal. They were found guilty of not following an agreed plan, I’m not sure there was ever an option to deduct points for that.

    Maybe they need to close that loophole though. Not much point in having a punishment plan, and there being no deterrent for not sticking to it.

    As you say ABSOLUTELY RIDICULOUS.
    Not really surprising though, EFL again showing total lack of concern for those 'playing by the rules'.

    Shame that our owners won't think sod the rules and put lots of £££,£££,£££'s in next season - can but dream...

    I thought it was the EFL who charged them, the tribunal overruled the decision in Birmingham's favour and the EFL submitted an appeal which they've won.
    I just don't understand how there can be, as part of the original punishment, restrictions on player signings set out in a plan only for the club to ignore said plan without any punishment. It seems that stating a plan must be followed with restrictions and then charging the club with failing to follow that plan is all a complete waste of time if there is then no punishment.

    Why do we bother working inside FFP clubs who work within the rules are the only teams punished by it.

    They were punished they got a 9 point deduction for the failure of FFP.
    This was for failing to sell players quick enough, which they were instructed to do by the EFL to balance their books.
    As frustrating as it is there is not a rule to deduct points for failing to follow a plan, I agree with others that the loophole should be closed
