Yeah I probably shouldn't have posted that last night, but it's just sheer head banging against the wall time.

I'll leave him to it too.

Not a problem Fonzie. Most of us are aware of your true views. And totally understood where you were coming from.
I’ve found that written expressions don’t always show real meanings. Especially to those unaware. We all do it mate.
Still not sure whether in his eyes I’m a
C—t or his buddy. :) I’ve certainly been called both and by the same people even proper buddies/mates . On several occasions. :):)

I don't think the topics are a problem, we can all choose whether to get involved. For me, it's the thinly veiled racism, open abuse of other posters, and the incessant repetition of the same points over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over again, which make me find other things to do instead of reading posts on here, which I used to enjoy. I just don't understand why people appear to get enjoyment out of being unpleasant to others. What are they for? Do they think they sound hard?

Well there'll soon be footy again which is probably a good thing for this board, me included.
Plus there's cricket round the corner. Are you all set to start?

What I try to do mate. ( and believe me I’ve had to count to 10 afore replying on many occasions) is steer clear of personal abuse by posters by then making a similar comment back.
I totally don’t have a problem with using abuse to emphasise my views on eg. governments handling of covid, because they make my blood boil . Maybe uncalled for in some eyes. Fair enough. But it’s a way I try to get my passion over in writing on such matters.

Where’s the cricket going on round the corner. Can I come and watch. Safe distancing obviously.:)

TBF Churton I probably miss cricket more at this stage cos it’s what I look forward to after the football.

As my interest in football is only 100% Barnsley. I’m not exactly enthralled about having to watch em on Ifollow.

To be honest as things stand our games are still suspended. Our season is in 2 halves, and the first half of the season repeats, starting on 4th July, with the fixtures reversed. As lockdown began the first half of the season was cancelled, and the plan was to start on 4th July and play each other just once. However, we've had no news that that can go ahead, although there have been some relaxations on training, net practice etc. There's still time, but until we hear something officially we can't do anything.

If your on about Fonzie. Perhaps so. Given his thoughts on the subject. If you care to look at some of his previous posts. Pretty obvious.

Similar here. I think the Kerry boys are in restricted training but no news of fixtures or a start date.

Hi Hooky. Well you'd be more than welcome if you happened to be in Kerry. :)
If you've got instagram have a look at Kerrycricket. The ground is amazing. I'm sure Stahlrost would be pleased to see you at their matches.
Really looking forward to salvaging a bit out of the summer.

I’d agree Gordon. But how do you separate all the different subjects. There is always the right to ignore obvious threads on the above subjects.
But there are loads of other subjects that are not football related that I enjoy reading. Be it humorous stories. ( of which there’s plenty) advice. Off topic.
Football is the main reason of this site. Totally agree.
But me personally I don’t want to get involved with Twitter (vile) or Facebook. And find lots of us have things in common and It’s like a social group discussing the issues of the world.
I feel in the most part we can have adult discussions without resorting to abuse. ( Spoils it)
As I say things should return to normal. But I agree there have been too many Threads on the same old same old.( myself included)
If admin can indeed create an off topic section all the better. Would save trawling through to find football related.

Equally well, others have observed that the jumble of threads both on- and off-topic is one of the things that makes the BBS unique. Perhaps we can find a compromise without having to resort to moving the football posts off into a separate sub-forum. @Gally et al. is there any facility in XenForo to add a filter so that people could optionally filter out threads with an OT prefix in their titles, say? Or would it be a waste of time and effort given that many threads start on topic and then veer off in unforeseen directions (guilty as charged)?

Edit: or would it be possible for people to combine threads from multiple sub-forums in an amalgamated view? It'd be great if a solution could be found so that people could choose whether to just see footie posts or to see everything.

Nothing wrong with it as it is. It's been like this for 20 + years; it's stood the test of time.
