If it's one rule for people protesting against systematic racism and another for pissed up racist thugs, then I'm all for it if it means the latter get a shoeing.

Do you honestly thing that all the BLM protesters who turned up last week weren’t hoping for some trouble? We’re not talking antifa or whoever else jumped on the bandwagon but genuine BLM protesters

I wasn't having a pop, just asking about any protesters that may have been around, I don't think the cenotaph is in any danger.

I know not all the blm protesters wanted trouble as the majority peacefully protested. Same with barnsley town hall people turned up to remember george floyd peacefully even social distancing and had a firework shot at them from a vehicle.

they knew exactly what they were doing when they started setting fire to flags, wrecking statues and redecorating memorials.

in my opinion had they refrained from this sort of stuff then their support would have been much greater, in doing what they did they literally played into the hands of the far right and nationalism.

    But some did?

As for the tossers who shot a firework at them last week, they want a long stretch inside

Your very right, trying to burn a flag on the cenotaph should carry a minimum of a 5 year sentence!! If the BLM protesters would’ve gone about there business as they should’ve then yesterday wouldn’t have happened, sadly we all knew yesterday what the outcome would be!! This last week as really hit home how big of a divide there appears to be in the country

Yeah some did, I used to go all over watching barnsley I've been to away games where especially league one we have took big followings but it been obvious some only tagged along to get pissed cause bother before in between and after the game. They dont represent the whole of barnsley fc supporter they are a small minority who spoil it for the rest and it's the same as blm putting there point across and the same people who genuinely went to protect statues. Fireworks were also fired at police in London by far right yesterday

    Absolute cretins.

You can also apply the same to your other statement, not all ‘far right protesters’ were there for trouble either!

we can go round in circles all day long

The most noticeable thing I think is the amount of people who have condemned last week's BLM protest compared with yesterday's efforts on my Facebook/Twitter feed.

    Wonder why that is.

I did say that both blm and people who genuinely wanted to protect memorials got spoiled by morons intent on trouble. Right wing groups were even putting it over social media that a "patriot" had been slashed in the kneck and killed but this was fake news.

here’s the rub though, last week there was a mass outcry from the usual suspects, this week well it was just a few idiots.

if the same can’t be said if both protests then that’s where the conversation starts.

I wonder who’s Protecting the monuments today.

I assume he was protecting the memorial to those that died to give the morons on both sides the ability to protest. I've no issue with people quietly standing at a memorial to prevent morons defacing it whether that be by graffiti from one side or the other sides morons pissing on it. I don't understand why the BLM protesters think defacing war memorials in the UK will stop cops in the USA killing black people. I don't see the BLM lot protesting when a black kid in London gets shot or knifed by another black kid because he's from the wrong post code. Also I didn't see them protesting when the black drug dealer killed the young white girl sitting with her mates in the park for absolutely no reason other than he was pissed off because his intended target wasn't there. The cop was wrong the cops who stood by and watched were wrong but the morons from both sides kicking off in this country are also wrong.

Well my 16 yr old (great) niece who turned up in Doncaster for a perfectly behaved protest wasn’t expecting trouble.

And it’s only a guess but the protesters in Barnsley who failed to kick off even when a yob threw a firework weren’t ‘hoping’ for trouble either.

Given the thousands of protesters and handful of war memorials defaced, I’d say the link is fairly spurious. It’s unfortunate that it happened, not just for law and order but because it gives an excellent handle for ‘whataboutery’.

There's morons on both sides doesn't mean that both sides don't have valid points to make. The big problem with the world in general is a few are very very rich and the vast majority work very hard just to keep their heads above water and the ones who are rich and have power are very happy to see the majority fighting amongst themselves and leaving them to carry on making vast amounts of money. The more the working class from whichever end of the spectrum fight argue and blame one another the happier the real villans will be.
