Do you need a Colchester stub for the Liverpool game?

Moving this parallel discussion to here:
My point is, this debate's being going on for years and continues to resurface frequently. Twice in the last 2 days, for example. Personally I agree with @Gimson&theBarnsleys et al. that it's great as it is but I'm not so dogmatic as to ignore the fact that many people (indeed most people, judging by the poll) think otherwise so what I'm suggesting is that maybe a technical solution can be found such that everyone can be happy. If OT posts could be easily flagged and then optionally filtered then that'd be a one-time setting for everyone to see the forum how they want. Rather than try to satisfy conflicting requirements re: the content, I'm proposing that we see if "we" can just fix the way people view it.

I've not done much with forum software and I'm a bit rusty full stop but I'd be happy to get my hands dirty after next week if admin thought it was worth looking into and wanted a volunteer.

Could we organise a Leaver v Remainer footy match, then we could argue about the refs decisions and whether the match was played without the interference of the unelected bureaucrats in Brussels imposing unwanted standards to the rules and whether McGeehan should have been sent off and receive a lifetime ban...….only asking

No. What gives you the right?? This board, in all its incarnations going right back to the email list in the mid-90s, has always enjoyed a wide range of talking points. When there’s no football, it’s a matter of simple logic that other topics will come to the fore. It would be a far worse place without the variety. So as you’re relatively new here, I’d suggest you find another forum if you don’t like the cut of this one’s jib.

No cos when remain lost, there would have to be excuses, lots of crying and refuse to accept the final score.

Clearly it’s because there isn’t any football being played.

    Haha what a joker!

Barely double figures of posts in the best part of a decade and then complains about what people post.

S.hit or get off the pot pal. If you want more football threads, post some.

The bbs is not now nor ever has been solely a football forum. It would lose something in my view if that is what it became.

It is a forum for barnsley supporters to discuss whatever, within reason, they want to.

There are plenty of threads of no interest to me, I ignore them.

If you don’t like something I post, ignore it or comment to say you don’t like it. That is how it works and I think the majority are perfectly happy with that.

We did have a vote about in particular politics, though the result (in my view correctly) was not in the end implemented as it would take away from what we have here.

But nobody has ever said we can post only about football. We have drinks threads, food, restaurants, holiday destinations, current affairs (so inevitably politics).

I’m not from barnsley, quite a few barnsley fans aren’t. Posts about what they are and aren’t doing to the town centre, glass works, whether you can walk over jumble lane etc aren’t really of any use or interest. I’m not asking for them to stop though.

If you want a forum to talk exclusively about football and / or only Barnsley fc in particular, start one, or go on tykes mad, see how you like those folk.

The mixture of topics suits me fine, I’m an all rounder. I know f*ck all about football, f*ck all about politics and f*ck all about everything else. So, perfectly qualified to comment on all topics

I used to be a regular poster, but I've been suffering from gluten intolerance & as a result things have been less than regular recently. There has been a big cascade of ****, then nothing, other than a painful build up. It does actually sound like the season is starting again.

I don’t have any issue with the different topics personally, it’s to be expected during these unprecedented times and no football. Severely enhanced by idiot Cummings and the idiot rioters (just my opinion).

What I do get annoyed/bored with though is how many threads are started about the same thing. There might be a tiny different angle to it, but it should be posted in a relevant thread - especially when there’s enough to choose from!

There’s plenty of football/Barnsley chat on the BBS, but those threads are dwarfed by all the others with just a handful of replies to them.

I try and merge where relevant but some days it’s a thankless task. And it’s the same people guilty of it over and over again.

With respect to the op... If You don't like the subject matter I'd suggest you stick us all on ignore... This site is so diverse in not only material and characters alike its a credit to all those who contribute to every subject matter you could think off.... Its also helpful like the yellow pages and the encyclopedia brittania at times not forgetting the help and concern similar to that the samaritans. Offer.
Comedy Gold at times.... Vasectomy thread... Springs to mind
its a credit to all those who not only contribute but police it too... The length of time it's been up and running is testimony to its success... Long may it continue...

Bye the way OP the board is not a statue so don't attempt to pull it down...lol

Could I just suggest you read Redhelen's post 'I never knew about this, what an inspiration'.

You might want to rethink your's after that.
