Always liked him as a player, even though I don’t like his club, but now you can’t help but like him as person. Certainly seems like he has his head screwed on.

Excellent news. Shame we have a government that need to be told how to govern by footballers. Still, here we are!

Fair play I think he's managed to embarrass both the sitting government and the opposition, all while fighting for a incredibly worthy cause.

Well Im not sure where Starmer was, or is, or has been on this - but there's been plenty of local Labour MPs and Tory ones to be fair, campaigning against this for a while.

You've long been a favourite poster of mine, mate. These past few months, however, has seen an increase in quality. Fine form, indeed. I doff my hat to you, sir.

Oh I know they have and I understand why a high profile footballer can bring more pressure than they can. It will still be thrown at Labour that a footballer had had more success changing government policy than the opposition. It isn't a fair assessment, but it will be made.

Although the blond buffoon had done a u turn over this, as he seems to do with pretty much everything these days , it's a sad indictment on our society that someone like Marcus Rashford had to raise money to feed our kids.
These in power have no shame. If they did, they would establish a way of making things affordable for everyone, instead of the increase we have in food bank .

What a sad legacy to leave for future generations, or country once so proud where we now have to feed people through good banks!!!

Johnson claiming he only heard about Rashford’s campaign today, speaks volumes really.

It’s not as though its a new issue these families must have been struggling for years before Rashford highlighted it. Well done lad.

One good thing under Blair was the sure start initiative. The aim of Labour was to eradicate child poverty. I've always thought children need fsm all year round, there were summer schools and camps for disadvantaged children where they would get fed too.

Where did you get the “thought they would never cut water off”
As far as I am aware it can not be turned off to a domestic supply.
A water board cannot turn it off. It’s illegal It’s the basic necessity of life. They still want you to pay the bills mindst. I work in the water industry and am fully aware of the fact.
As far as I’m aware landlords etc. Would be on extremely dodgy grounds. They might attempt it, to try and evict folk. But and it’s only a but. I think it’s still illegal.

Feel sorry for the poor sod.

how long now before the press discover he’s had his hand in the wrong pair of pants, driven whilst on the phone or some other heinous crime.

    100% Nice one Rashford.

How many of us on half decent wages would put another few pence on income tax.
I’ve had negative comments in the past on this issue during covid. About how the filthy rich would hide their money. That’s life and I hope they get their just dessert .

So my point is why is it not looked at. An increase in taxes ( paye) and new thresholds. I’m certainly not in favour of raising the basic rate.. But ( and it would be for the government to decide) why are other thresholds not brought in and raise the tax .
    Eg. £200,000 pa 60%
    £350, 000 pa 75%
That way the fall out from this will at least fall a bit more on the wealthy.

Whilst I’m, as I say fully behind Rashford on his memo. The taxpayer will eventually pick up the bill. And these b’std tories Will choose austerity over personal wealth.
Obviously those not paye would have to be brought to task also.

Based on my estimated figures anyone on £20k per week. £1m pa. ( bear in mind that’s probably an apprentice wage in the premier league) would still take home circa. £320k.minus NI approx £20k
£300k £6kpw Looks drastic but your not going to starve.
Would probably mean another £260k extra in taxes. Rather than their pockets.
We’re altogether in this my arse. And the General public accept it ffs. ( sure some Wizz kid will put me right on the figures. But it’s an attempt)

Whilst on. On a similar theme. Re food vouchers. For those of us that can afford to contribute please don’t forget, when you go to the supermarket food banks are still there to contribute. Cost of a pint per would make all the difference. Not an instruction just a thought.
I hate the idea that food vouchers could be abused. By foul means. Paying for fags booze. I don’t know if it’s possible to stop such activity.

Being involved in the 1yr strike. I valued the food parcels and will be forever grateful to those that contributed. Putting in food bank collections at the supermarket is the least I can do.

You can't spend food vouchers on fags and booze.

I understand that Helen but what’s stopping an unscrupulous corner shop supermarket. Taking advantage if some unscrupulous parent. Tries it on. Where there’s a will there’s a way so to speak. Some parents would attempt such activity. Booze over food. I can’t see it being foolproof. I hope I’m wrong. And it would be a very small minority but they exist.
Are they limited only to the supermarket chains. Genuine question. I used to use mine ( in the strike. £5 per child £10 in my case.at Kwik save at wombwell. You got more for your money. Whatever happened to them btw)

Unfortunately, this seems to be the way Society is heading, ala good ole U. S of A.
