Did we not have poppys on our shirts in england? Sorry I just cant remember if we did or didnt I can remember mclean getting alot of stick I thought every player wore one bar mclean
We had them sewn into club shirts - but obviously players had choice. It was the international games that didn't because FIFA stay out of politics - rightly or wrongly. This is lost on the brains of Britain though.
Thanks I genuinely couldnt remember, I agree that poppys now they represent every war should be optional, with black lives matter it's about treating everyone equal so it would be odd if a player didnt want that on there back.
The other thing is I'm not kneeling. I get that if you're kneeling to someone ( Royal.family anyone?) but this is kneeling with them. I really cant see the problem .
And how come Blacklivesmatter kept getting booked every time? Nobody else did. And then even got sent off? That's it. Time for a revolution.
Hopefully not in the Blades game. Otherwise you'd be out tonight with a banner with "Real Eyes Matter". Or summat.
Now I understand it’s sarcasm in this thread. But... if part of this was copied and put in the National press with your quotes next to your real names, how would you feel? Or if someone joins and doesn’t know you’re taking the pi55 It’s still offensive, even if you’re parodying the real racists. Maybe have a think?
Oh dear. Upset that a worthy cause is being supported. Wow. You’re not even right about what is apparently angering you. There are poppies on shirts in every premier league and football league game around Remembrance Sunday. Only individual players decide if they don’t want it and very few choose not to. Fifa don’t (or didnt) allow them on international shirts as they are (or were) deemed, ridiculously, to be political. The fa stuck two fingers up at them and put some poppies on black armbands instead. They displayed poppies despite them. Bravo. And as for Lee Rigby, his own family have very publicly asked it not to be compared as there are absolutely no parallels whatsoever. He was murdered by a radical religious fantasist - because he was a British soldier and what he represented. The people killed which prompted this movement, the straws that broke the camels back as it were, were killed by so called officers of the law without any just cause whatsoever; horrendously annotating the very obvious racism which is abundant - and unfortunately not only in the states. Had, say, a white man been accused of trying to pay with a forged banknote (the heinous crime George Floyd was arrested for - the banknote later found to actually be real anyway), or been accused of another non violent or petty crime, there is a 0% chance he would be choked to death or even be forced to lay on the road. There certainly wouldn’t be an official autopsy initially find that compression to the neck and/or asphyxiation not be the cause of death, trying to blame intoxication, yet backtrack when a private autopsy which concluded asphyxiation by neck compression to be the cause of death was concluded and published. Equally as ridiculous as the lee rigby comparison is this ‘all lives matter’ reposte. Of course all lives matter. Nobody has claimed anything different. But when we ‘stood with grenfell’ nobody moaned about another tower block, when we ‘stood with Paris’ no one quipped ‘but what about Madrid?’. saying #AllLivesMatter is like running through a cancer fundraiser & saying "THERE'S OTHER DISEASES TOO”. It’s completely missing the point. It isn’t about black lives mattering more. It’s about them mattering equally, it’s about the ongoing imbalance of treatment being rectified. If you can’t accept that, I strongly suggest you don’t post any more on the matter, maybe go and ‘fewm’ elsewhere. The country might be stooping lower and lower, but the premier league supporting this movement isn’t contributing to it. Folk like you might be though.
I'm not a fan of the kneeling over here. It made sense in the context of America, where so many stand and put their hand on their heart for the national anthem . But outside of that specific angry protest that originated in the NFL against the state of the nation it just seems a bit gimmicky to me for players and referees and everyone to be doing it in silence before a league match in England. I'm all for people supporting the movement generally of course , as a loony lefty
The kneeling is just plain embarrassing We are not Americans and as such, don’t have to live our lives as though a camera is watching.
Really? Want to check my post history? You couldn't be more wrong. Looks like it's time to stop with the parody on here - it is easily misread. I apologise if you've taken it the wrong way. I'll repeat my stance again on here. Racism is ******* deplorable. I've reported many posters on here for racism. I've never received acknowledgement of said reports. Posters reported all still post on here - even the one who likes to speak about Fried Chicken and Illiterate Delroys. So I can only assume site admin is complicit. I'll repeat for you once again - I am against racism in any form whatsoever. I will edit my original post, because it was obviously been misunderstood by a few people.
