I seem to remember us sticking 7 past Workington in my very early years.

Yup, we beat them 7-1 away, April 1976. John Peachey got 3, Peter Price got 2, with Bobby Doyle and John Saunders getting the others.

What names they are to conjure with. Every one of them legends. Loved that side.

Was it a night match? I have memories of my dad going mental about the score.

:D I should’ve known that too, spent a lot of time working in Whitehaven. For some reason I thought it was up that end.

Carlisle have a mare everyweek the poor buggers, be less traveling if they were just to play in the Scottish division. :D

It was a Wednesday night. My late Father took us in the car and it seemed to take ages to get there, much quicker on the way home for some reason(!):D
Workington had covered terracing down one side of the pitch (opposite side to us), with an advert for a local ice cream company saying "We Take Some Licking".

Barrow was the birthplace of the late Emlyn Hughes. I was invited to a dinner to celebrate the centenary of
Johnstones Paints and Emlyn was their special guest. I was lucky to be on the same table as him over lunch
and one of the guests asked him if looking back over his career, was there anything he regretted.

His reply was that he would have loved to have played for his home town Club and was gutted when his request
for a trial was rejected on the grounds that a Club scout had watched him playing locally and declared him not to
be good enough.! He found that puzzling as a couple of months later, he signed his first ever pro contract with
    Blackpool FC.

Just a few years ago we drove on to Walney Island. A bit god forsaken but never mind.
The BAE submarine base in Barrow would be worth a visit, top secret but I'm sure they'd let a few coach loads of reds fans have a look round.
The Lake District would love to welcome drunken football fans as well.

I remember that game too. A disappointing start after promotion.
