Leeds fans calling Villa hypocrites after they didn’t offer Sheffield Utd a tap in after the technology failure yesterday, as Leeds gave Villa last season. IMO that’d be a case of one idiotic and stupid turn deserves another. If I had been the Leeds owner Bielsa would have been looking for his next position the day after that free goal fiasco

Hate Leeds but love Bielsa. Totally honourable that he did that, cheating shouldn't be part of sport.

Hate to disagree but it wasn’t cheating at all, it was reminiscent of the Arsenal Sheffield Utd game which was replayed because Sheffield scored a goal in a perceived unsportsmanlike manner. Fancy being held to account by the fa for being unsportsmanlike, with all the blatant cheating they oversee, oh the irony

No, it wasn't. It was Marc Overmars who scored the unsportsmanlike goal for Arsenal. Arsene Wenger insisted he didn't want Arsenal's reputation to be tarnished by winning a game in that manner, which is why the game was replayed.

    Villa didn't cheat.

I would be gutted if Collins or whoever 'fessed-up if the Nyland situation happened to him. It is not Nyland's fault, or Villa's. Some refereeing/technology decisions you win, some you don't.

It is not comparable to the Leeds situation, where their player gestured that he was putting the ball out but carried on and the team scored.

Thanks for that, but I hope you get my point, professional footballers giving goals away under any circumstances is just not for me.

I used to play Pool at a very high standard, generally speaking there is an unwritten code that if you foul and the Ref didn’t see it you called it.
One of the best players I ever saw was adamant if the Ref didn’t call it wasn’t a foul and was his view the ref is part of the game and if he didn’t feel it was a foul it wasn’t.
Never met anyone else who agreed with him but funny how people see things different.

Cheating in sport especially professional is more common than bears thinking about. With some notable exceptions
I’ve never understood how anyone gets pleasure out of cheating irrespective if money is I involved.
Athletics being the worst. Football ranks high on the list.

Asif villa players believed it had gone over when the refs watch didnt alert, only the goalkeeper and a couple other players will have known. It's been 9k games of using goal line technology and that is the 1st time it's ever happened.

I agree it was good to see, another of my favourite moments watching sport was everton v west ham and keeper was down injured ball got crossed di canio more or less had a open net and he picked the ball up as he didnt want to score with keeper injured. Think it was Redknapp who looked fuming with him.

In days of yore (I'm told!) at Wimbledon and other tennis tournaments before the days of Hawkeye if a point was won because the umpire got it wrong the player awarded the point 'wrongfully' would give away the next point by either serving into the net or hitting the ball wide. Times change!

In snooker they call fouls on themselves all the time. Often the ref hasnt even seen it

Something a bit dodgy with it IMO...

Ok Hawkeye tech didn't work.. However VAR was in full operation and they can review autonomously or if instructed by the referee.

In this occasion with 9 cameras all showing a clear goal, why didn't VAR say goal?

Not all systems failed otherwise we wouldn't have seen it at home.

I doubt this would have happened had it been a possible goal for Man City or Man Utd.. VAR would have been on it instantly.

we all saw it in real time and said goal, the ref should have had the balls to ask var and admit the tech had failed.

hawk eyes excuse that there was an ocular hazard was balls as well, the side on camera which clearly shows a goal is one of theres!

Yes but with it being so obvious as with any other missed incident. Var can look into it, why didn't they. Nobody has answered that question.

I really feel for Sheff Utd even though I can't stand em. I expected relegation for em at the start of the season and have been impressed in what they have done this season with on paper a really average squad. But they work very hard and efficiently, it can't not be acknowledged.. I imagine as fate seems to always dish out they will miss out on the European spots by 2 points now..

Can you imagine if that was us needing a win on last day of season? Cant express some of the emotions!
