Social Media is a big problem, actually Social Media is a great idea in principle, it is some people who use it that are the problem. We see the worst of it on here at times with the regular and inappropriate use of terms such as racist, fascist, etc. It kills reasonable debate dead because it is virtually impossible to debate with woke, intellectually lazy clowns.
There’s been blatant and unadulterated racists comments on social media but hey let’s attack those that call it out as the aggressors and killers of debate the lazy clowns .
In all fairness, Mario there are some racist and fascist comments made on here, too, which the individuals concern try to dress up as being, reasonable, fair comments. It's wrong to claim that it's only coming from one side in the debate.
Yep. It grinds you down after a while and through sheer frustration, people say things they probably shouldn't. I'll hold my hands up to this. But there's only so many times you can try to explain something which isn't grasped before you think fck it, if it's not taken on board, the dreaded R word does apply.
Hence why I used the word 'inappropriate'. It happens a lot, on here and on social media. So I am calling out those who use the terms inappropriately and call out racism and fascism where it doesn't exist. Maybe some people don't really know what the terms mean which in a way is just as bad.
No problem with that Mario but you seemed to emphasise on the sins of those calling racism out rather than the people who have blatantly used racist remarks . I hate racism with a passion and imo dehumanises those that adhere to it . I’ve called many comments racist not the poster as I genuinely believe some of them just don’t realise some of the comments ie ALM which was brought about by a retort and skit at BLM . If there had been a genuine movement that used this slogan with a view to being a civil rights movement and encompass BLM and other bona fide civil rights or human rights movements in solidarity and lobbying of bodies to enhance living conditions then I would endorse it but we all know it’s not used in that context .
For me, it's fair, right and proper for people to call out racists, fascists and their apologists. They are a far bigger issue, danger and problem, in my opinion, than individuals who are unable to distinguish between the aforementioned and folk with right leaning tendencies and politics.
Can't beat a bowl of British seasonal strawberries (not the crap imported ones). Mango eaters are worse than the Nazis.
I came off Facebook and Twitter last week after years on there. I used to love Twitter in particular, it was like sitting in the pub with your mates having a laugh, except you were on your phone with a load of strangers. These days it’s just full of extreme right wing fascists and then extreme liberals who criticise anyone that isn’t on the same page as them. The arguments on there no longer have any nuance whatsoever, they’re all black and white issues and people aren’t willing to move. I’d found myself on it more and more every day during lockdown and getting so frustrated at the idiots on there that weren’t willing to debate but just wanted to state their views and abuse anyone that doesn’t agree. So far I’ve felt much better not being on there and actually engaging with the real world more. Facebook is just full of racists spreading their hate and lies. I’d been meaning to come off for ages but I hadn’t realised i could stay on messenger but come off facebook.
What I don’t like is when people have a different view of point and people choose to try to belittle or insult the other to try to get the upper hand.
