Not this again. We've released 4 players that simply don't play or are out of contract. We will sign more players before next season and will probably sell some too.

Why do we always get these comments at such an early stage?

when a player is released does he 'clear his desk' and 'disappear' or is some support given re his future?

Isn't that what he pays his agent for?

no idea - know little about what agents do/don't do.
I just wondered if the Clubs have on-going schemes whilst players are at the club so they players are prepared for looking for other work if released?

I think Viv Anderson mentioned helping retired footballers through his company in his interview with Ben

No need for personal insults. He always gave 100% and produced some great goals.

Most folk don't get support when their contract at work comes to an end. Surely it's up to your agent to find you something else? If not, why on earth have one?

I'm not sure what your gripe is? I was asking for clarification on who had been offered new contracts and what the status of the loan players was, plus saying I'd have liked us to have kept one player.

They pay quite a lot of money to an agency to look after their interests and they are paid members of the PFA union. They get a lot more support than the vast majority of none footballers when their contract expires. One very simple perk for example is that the PFA produces a free agents list that all clubs have access to so every out if contract player is on that list being touted for work by their union

Sam fielding is an odd one for me. He wasn't just a regular starter for the under 23s but was the captain. Seems a bit odd to release the one under 23 player you gave the captaincy to. Especially when he plays in a position that our first team is extremely weak in

Like so many. Leave little old Barnsley for big money and the bright lights, get spat out at our level/lower 2/3 years later. It's one of the most frustrating things about modern football.

Mowatt has shown no definite desire to leave. According to the Chron. He would be up for discussing a new contract irrespective of which division we are in. All depends on that. We cash in or get him on a new contact other than the option we took up , for a push at promotion If necessary.
