Don’t accept the Cummings thing as an excuse at all tbh. I was as disgusted as everybody else by his actions and wanted him sacked, but I didn’t suddenly think fk it and drop my own social responsibilities on the back of it.

But you are STILL responsible, as an individual, for your OWN actions. Blaming someone else, which you are implying, is just abdicating that responsibility. OK if you are sheep but otherwise it is just a cop-out and a lame excuse. If you believe something is wrong you don't have to blindly follow someone else' example.

And neither did I, but it still sends out the wrong message. People look at what he did and genuinely think, "well it can't be that bad if he's doing X". Not everyone in this country has the intellect to weigh up the evidence.

Maybe not horrible. Highly Irresponsible would be a better phrase. It is quite noticeable that it is the age group mainly early 20's looking at the pictures and videos. Is this the age group that widely refuse to be told what to do? It's hardly the first time that they have flocked to the beaches during the pandemic. It seems they don't give a stuff about anyone but themselves and I know it isn't all young people, however the numbers are increasing.

That is because you clearly have a brain that you use to apply common sense and have an inbuilt sense of responsibilty for your own actions. Those are qualities sadly lacking by a small number of poster on this BB.

Whether people think the Cummings thing should or shouldn't have made a difference doesn't change the fact that it will have done. The Government will have known this, but still decided to back him for whatever unfathomable reason rather than uphold the rule of law and appropriate standards by sacking him. They knew that supporting him would dilute the message but thought "f*ck it" and did it anyway.

There is no such thing as a petty attempt to have a go at Liverpool FC. All attempts are worthy of praise.

As for the yeah but Dominic Cummings did this argument. Anybody taking that stance IMO are just as pathetic as him. Stuff of the playground that argument.

You either give a stuff about us trying to eradicate this virus or you don't. End of story.

"Parent" I can agree with as a child you are impressionable, going through the formative years...Montessori and all that!

However, coming from someone who constantly criticises and castigates, justifiably or otherwise, BJ, DC and the Conservative Government and who does not trust them, and moreover believes most people agree with that viewpoint, I find it strange that you think, given all that, that people, follow their actions blindly, unless you are implying all these people flouting the rules are BJ,DC and Tory supporters..

I have usually found if I don't trust or like people it is for a reason and I would not follow their example. Perhaps that is just me. BJ and DC did not actually 'instruct' people to flout the rules and unlike employers or bosses have no direct influence on how people respond. AGAIN, Personal responsibility and common sense is what is missing.

    On a rant nar...
Again I am bunching all our young adults into one shameful disgusting bunch of morons.

Same bunch of people who preach during votes that older people were stealing their futures, flocking to the beaches and protests to trigger new virus waves..

Same group of people preaching to older people about the damage being done to the planet on climate change and plastic waste. Look at the state of the beaches when they leave, absolutely boils my pee..

Councils reporting horror at the cleanup operations. Piles of human faeces in the sand dunes cos they CBA to use the toilets in a socially distant compliant way..

Really promotes the image of these young adults..

    Exactly.

And it's so frustrating when people can't see that.

If Cummings was sacked, The PM was strong and reinforced the measures in place at the time, you get people taking notice and thinking about their actions.

Instead you we've been told he's done nothing wrong, so people think balls to it.

    Monkey see, monkey do.

Agree. Fully but you are flogging a dead horse with a handful on here who rally round each other to attack someone who contradicts their narrow politically driven views on life. I find Social media has widened the 'generation gap' and it has become far more aggressive and confrontational. To some the 20-30 age group, those in the 50s and 60s know nothing, are gammons, racist, mysosgenistic know nothing idiots and the planet would be far better off without them. I cringe when I think of some of the views I held and things I thought about my parents and the older generation when I was young. The expression, 'If only I knew then what I know now' is forever apt.
Don't get me wrong, the younger generation has drive, enthusiasm, ideals and energy, all of which are great, but that 'black and white' idealism needs tempering with some greys and practicalities and how the World 'is' missing from their Lexicon. They try for Giant leaps instead of small steps and in most caseslook at history without actually learning from it.

OK. Sorry, I will climb off my soap box now:)

I still pee in public if I'm caught short. If I get my collar felt it's tough ****. Obviously I don't just lop it out anywhere but I've pi ssed behind bushes and up alleyway walls and behind bins if I've needed to.

Dominic did this so I'm going to the beach to try and kill a few vulnerable people.

Great logic by anyone thinking 1 bloke who isn't even an MP or part of the cabinet doing something then justifies them being beyond stupid.

Quite a few people have probably got away with murder through time, doesn't make it acceptable to adopt that mindset.

Do you actually believe that if Cummings had been sacked then the beaches would still not be packed with irresponsible morons.

90% of em probably dont even know who he is, they are that out of touch with real life.

DO you go into someone's garden or p*ss up the walls or doors or defacate in the gardens or on the beach? No, thought not. World of difference, discretely relieving yourself when there are no options in the places you mentioned to what has been happening. Not to mention littering.
Bloodied Sanitary towels left on a beach FFS!!?

If Johnson sacks him, uses his daily briefing to stress the need for rules to be followed, stresses how important it is for everyone (No matter who they are or what they do) to take responsibility, hammers the point home, reinforces again, comes up with another slogan, speaks about the dangers of the virus after having it himself, and really, really tells us all how important it is to keep doing what we're doing - then maybe.

People may not know who Cummings is, but they know who Johnson is. And if he actually gave us some leadership, then the reaction would have been different.

Instead we didn't see him for 2 weeks. The defence of the government is ridiculous. Some members of the population can't take responsibility for themselves or don't want to. So they need a leader. We don't have one.
