They're generally either sound or atmosphere deficient. Anyone want to plug me in to something that will sound and look and feel terrific? From my man cave? Speakers all in place. I've just watched Talk Talk live from Montreux (again), which is magic (but from 1986 or summat) There must be something more up to date. I am a bit picky i suppose. But like the guitar solo.
Big atmosphere never translates properly. the Skunk Anansie acoustic Live in London gig is brilliant. if you like that there’s others I could recommend.
I've watched stuff at glastonbury for years, but not got that being there experience. I suppose it's that I really got a connection with that particular concert, when i was feeling ill last Christmas (I gave you my heart), and have watched it since. It was a daft post from me really. Cos we all have different musical tastes. But often live vids are a let down. And my faves are largely dead.
Foo Fighters at Glastonbury 2017 might fit the bill. Best gig I’ve ever had the pleasure of seeing in person, and seemingly just as good 3 years on watching it back on the telly. Exceptional stuff
Any live footage of Porcupine Tree is usually worth a go. Their main man, Steven Wilson, is really keen on sound quality, plus they can all play. Really play. His solo stuff is also good. A couple of example extracts...
I guess it's tough because it's so personal. I've got the most grainy poor quality video ever of my phone of the Arctic Monkeys on the NME new bands tour in 2005, doing Bet You Look Good On The Dancefloor. I've never ever been in a room since with that energy and I'm instantly there but to anyone else it looks like pixelated blocks of drunkeness. If you do look at the Glastonbury stuff, check out the Arcade Fire gig
Went to the Brixton leg of that NME tour. Had Maximo Park. Mystery jets, we are scientists as well. Cracking gig Just watching the encore. Love Arcade Fire. (Ive a feeling we’ve had this conversation before )
The NME mid-00s gigs were immense. I think we have. My favourite ever gig was Arcade Fire at Madison Square Gardens on The Suburbs tour.
Ive seen them quite a few times but I think 2007 at Ally Pally is one that stands out. Favourite ever gig though... Tough call... Might need to sleep on it
Think that's it, it's the personal experience that elevates it. A week in New York for our first wedding anniversary probably lifts that gig beyond how good it actually was.
