Leicester Staying In Lockdown

Coventry is going to be rammed in the shops, restaurants and pubs this weekend. 658 new infections in a fortnight so for once the government have done the right thing. Not sure they plan on policing it though.

 

Will be interesting to see if it is policed. It needs policing (and should have been policed since we went into lockdown, like they did in Europe.)

 

Will be utter ******** in approx 3 weeks time. After 4th July onwards there will be spikes all over the place..no doubt mainly metropolitan areas. How will the police cope? No chance. Pity the police have been reduced in numbers in the last 10 years. I blame labour

 

Why specifically after then? Pubs? Or something else?

 

Has there been any spikes in metropolitan areas given the number of protests and rammed beaches over the last few weeks?

 

What makes you think that all the protesters or beach visitors were from metropolitan areas? They could have been from all over the place.

 

I doubt very much that the protestors regardless of politics all reside in the country.

Those in London wouldn't have travelled far on a whole and will have used the tube.

Those filling skeggy beach will have come from towns all over south yorks and the midlands...

 

Yeah, you're probably right... On average, you'd expect more people to have come from places where more people live, I suppose. But it's not necessarily exclusive. Although if you've been and caught Covid at the beach and gone back to a town/city, there's more opportunity there to pass it on.

I really hope we don't see Leicester type spikes popping up all over the place, not after all the pain of lockdown. It'll be disheartening to say the least.

 

Somethings happened in leicester, its had a 1000 cases in the last fortnight. a third of its overall tally since C19 came to the fore.

 

They've dragged their feet on doing something though. Hancock first mentioned a problem in Leicester 11 days ago. So much for them acting quickly on these local lockdowns. After all their rhetoric, I don't think they had planned for one and didn't have a clue how to impose it. They certainly need to get quicker at supplying the data.

Children have been hit badly with this outbreak with a number of schools closed according to Matt Hanock. Thought children weren't at risk?

 

Aren't the spikes in parts of the US affecting more younger people than before.

Absolute nightmare for some, shutting on essential shops could well leave many with ssp as income. Will they be able to furlough anyone?

 

The majority of the cases are "younger people of a working age" (Chanel 4 news, let's see if this is the case).

But again, far too late. They've sat on this data for 11 days, despite requests from Leicestershire authorities to see it. They will never, ever get ahead of the curve with this thing.
