This is a pretty disgusting thread. The obscene and sexist comments are uncalled for - luckily I'm too posh to take public transport and mix with the sort of scum I'm reading about.
A train station is private property and is different, a train is classed as a public place. As for the actions of the NHS worker (which wasnt the point i was replying to), yes he may have broken the law. The response isn't proportionate based upon what the OP has described, though.

As it’s private property with public right of access, the train company would have to make it known that photography was not allowed. It would need to be published as a rule for granting access.
They have guards too but they're that scared to act nothing gets done. They only seem to employ weedy jobsworths on Northern Rail these days.
