    I prefer Dr. Kings take.

    An individual who breaks a law that conscience tells him is unjust, and who willingly accepts the penalty of imprisonment in order to arouse the conscience of the community over its injustice, is, in reality, expressing the highest respect for the law

    But the difference between the suffrogettes and Dr King - and the individual concerned today is anonymity - clearly shows a lack of character.

    Wow. I am absolutely NOT saying that. How you take my words about civil disobedience to suggest I condone mass murder I don't know.

    I'm talking about chaining yourself to railings, tearing down a statue. Of course the bombing of innocent people is abhorrent, whatever cause it's done in the name of.

    I’m having a ball personally laughing at all the right wingers tying themselves in knots in defence of a drunk pissing on a memorial of a copper murdered by an Islamic extremist.

    I wonder if they’d feel he was treated unjustly if he’d been an ethnic minority ‘desecrating a memorial to a British hero’.

    It's an injustice plain and simple like the thread states at the start .drunk bloke needs a piss probably didn't even know that memorial was there....gets caught on camera British press have a field day ...should be a £40 fine not a sentence ...the criminal damage to me is a far greater crime which I think is a £80/£100 fine...

    Maybe you're right. But being the public figurehead didn't end well for Dr King did it? You can't deny there are threats of violence being made to BLM protesters today, just as there were Civil Rights activists in the 60s.

    Ladies and gentlemen, after four pages of learned deliberation, we reach the key conclusions that;

    • A - the gentleman in question pissed at THE SIDE of a memorial, not on it
    • B - the gentleman in question didn't know it was a memorial he was pissing o... sorry, at the side of
    • C - the gentleman in question had no motivation to besmirch the memory of the policeman

    The poor flower has been hard done by our cruel, cruel justice system. Hope there's an inquest.

    Two weeks in prison for a tinkle , sounds a bit harsh to me ..slap on the wrist for destroying something oh well, tootle on my good chap please behaves one's self one wouldn't want a slapped bottom now

    The suffragettes damaged property and material, albeit with arson and bombs. The record proves that the only injuries they caused were to themselves. My understanding is they were quite careful that human life wasn't put in danger.
