And start Halme up front against Leeds. Struber has got to try something different and Cauley (I don't want to get injured) Woodrow has been an utter embarrassment since the resumption.
I'd try Woodrow up front. I reckon he might do ok, instead of his current defensive midfield position.
No goals in 8 - I wouldn't even disagree. At worst, Halme won't score but will put himself about and be a threat.
He was in and around the box plenty today, but his passing/link up play was atrocious. Must have given it away 4 or 5 times in the time he was on, from simple 5 yard passes. It was his awful pass that caused Ludewig to nearly get crocked for example, really sold him short
My thoughts exactly pal, Halme will cause a nuisance up top. Its desperation time, he can't keep doing the same thing and expecting different results.
I know he's been poor since the restart - and chances are he's probably already got a club sorted. But we have to get the best out of him - mind you, it doesn't matter now.
Woodrow suffers from nobody doing the Moore spade work for him, so I would play Halme alongside him for some much needed strength and height in the final third and he's someone who knows where the net is since we've come back from lockdown.
To be fair I thought the same. Certainly seemed further forward first half, just looked way off it to me
That's because he;s started three of the last six games as a striker. But we don't want to believe that.
It doesn't matter where he starts. It's where he plays. He touched the ball once in the box against Luton in the 2nd half. Once. And I know that as a fact, because I sat and counted because I was bored watching us fumblefck around.
By constantly playing him out of position. No wonder Woodrows stopped playing for him, he's turned an effective championship striker into a poor championship midfielder.
It's annoying with Woodrow and his inability to hold the ball up/put himself about. He's not even short - he's 6ft ffs. Now most championship centre halves are going to be 6ft 2 or above but come on lad - Jon Macken at 5ft 9 used to be able to play that role perfectly for us on the championship and he wasn't exactly brilliant...
I think Woodrow is quite happy to play deep because it is far less physical, and he can ‘see‘ the ‘danger’ and steer away from it, there’s no big defenders to clatter him as he challenge’s with his arse, “ grow some Woodrow”.
Wherever he has been asked to play, he is our top goalscorer. For that reason alone (and zero back up) he plays every week. If you were looking at how he has played post covid, he would not be in the team. His body language is all wrong and appears to be playing at about 60% of his ability and effort.
