Well I suppose they’ve got to get all those face masks that have been mass produced under the media fear blanket (that seems to be mainly the BBC) sold off by the companies that made them on the strength of this pandemic to prevent more job losses.
It is very late to be doing it, but it could also be looked on as early...in readiness for the anticipated winter second wave.
We are all sports fans to some degree or other. This is just the British Cycling maxim of "marginal gains" on a wider scale - if wearing masks reduces the risks by 1% and other measures reduce that risk further then it all adds up. Scientists are already warning a second wave in the winter could kill *another* 120,000 (https://news.sky.com/story/second-c...s-than-the-first-top-scientists-warn-12027912) and we need to take measures now to reduce that as much as possible - especially with the supply-side shock of Brexit looming in the first week of January.
Im trying to work out how we have a government that has basically cocked most of this (and everyhing else ) up and its the fault of the BBC
It's because suddenly the media is criticising poor Boris. Nobody ever mentioned how them nasty BBC nasties were picking on our poor politicians prior to March. How dare a professional journalist try to hold him to account. He's doing his best after all.
That’s me not going into shops for the foreseeable future ,every time I put a mask on I have the overwhelming urge to shout ‘Hi Ho Silver Away’
I agree fully. It's plain daft to introduce this measure now. It would have helped lower infection rates to a degree (no idea by how much). Despite this it surely will help reduce infection further and get us out of this horrific mess more quickly. (questioning the motivation of people, not a virus. Perhaps it doesn't work quite right but I like the sound of it so I'll be sticking with it)
https://www.ons.gov.uk/peoplepopula...wales/2017to2018provisionaland2016to2017final How come we didn't lock down in the flu season of 2017-18 when over 50,000 access deaths were accounted for? Pretty similar to now.
It's all as when suits with this government. That's smilpiest way to put it. I'll just make one with a sock. Not saying I'll wash after every use. Just something to shut people up. We are all fed up now. All this country as done since the virus is argue
Sunak is going to have to get used to slow growth when masks become mandatory putting more off using shops.......
Because we didn't lockdown fully. Asos and un essential rich businesses operated and it just jeopardised the whole scenario by putting measures in to allow these buisneses to create loopholes while family buisneses suffer
Probably because covid has a much larger rate of infection and we have no vaccine. Also the fact that covid kills far more people from a younger age range, many who have no underlying health conditions. You are typically also making a judgement on death rates without acknowledging the huge impact lockdown has had in reducing this. So lots of reasons.
