Definitely frustrating but at championship level across 44 games we have been poor; at this stage the table doesn't mislead. You're right about mistakes and wasted chances but we're still doing it, albeit less regularly at the back. It would have been interesting to see how we would have performed had Struber been here longer because that long winless run was very damaging however we still had a great chance with three very winnable games and won none of them. Our frailties have returned just when it looked like we had turned a corner.
It’s no secret that since resuming our goal scoring although was never prolific had almost dried to non existent . The three chances that fell to our main striker yesterday although weren’t remotely gilt edged the attempt to try and convert them was questionable imo . I could be sinister and say that had we stayed up a forward wouldn’t be getting his move but I won’t .
Also I think it's a little unfair to say if Struber had been here all season. He would have had to deal with all the early season problems too. Huge numbers of players who hadn't played together. It was always likely we would improve as the season went on. I don't really blame any of the 3 managers we have had this season. It was naive to think that having a similar transfer policy to our last relegation season would lead to a better outcome.
Like Stoke 4 Barnsley 0 Luton 1 Barnsley 1 Barnsley 0 Wigan 0 Leeds 1 Barnsley 0 1 goal and 2 points in the last 4 games is the real problem had we picked up a couple of wins instead of a couple of draws we would be looking a lot better
