I was just illustrating how we may not directly be asking for 20k pw players, but that is effectively the reality.
RR - I'm sorry but to suggest that's generally my approach is not true. Look at all of my posts in the 'Schmidt on for Brown', 'Should he stay or should he go', 'Board needs to move on' and most earlier conversations and almost all contain 'I think ....', 'imo', 'in my view' - sometimes more than once. I agree that in this thread they don't and I apologise for that - being equally forthright seemed appropriate but clearly two wrongs don't make a right, particularly given the nature of my challenge. I also apologise if the Trump reference offended you. I'll exit this conversation now.....
I think IMO that's a bit girly of you. In my view of course Edit: not just there's anything wrong with being girly
Please don't. I was not offended by either remark. I was offended by a remark earlier today, but that one was out of order, and it will be a long time before I get involved with that Individual again. Basically, I am interested in debate. I am interested in other opinions, and I give my own as a way of stimulating those opinions. Fair enough, I do not usually say in my opinion, but everything on here is an opinion, and I take that as read.
Allegedly. Difficult to say though. I’m not sure how reliable those salary websites are. In all fairness, he probably wasn’t on that when he was in loan with us, but it would still have been a hefty wage.
Playing devils advocate , would the council not have to give planning permission for such a venture ?
I didn't immediately resort to abuse. I've engaged with Red Rain in numerous threads over the last few months and years. He ignores what I post and then tries to talk down to me with his "facts". He then asks me questions, then answers them himself in the same post incorrectly. So I truly stand by what I called him. As evidenced by other posters saying the same thing. If he's got an issue with it, then he perhaps needs to look at what he's posting, what questions he's asking, and how he asks them. That's why I've written what I've written - and if anyone wants to criticise me about it, then go ahead. It's a message board. That's what people do. There's a report button too. Press it. I don't expect him to "lose sleep over it". But I've got a right to call him condescending when he's being condescending
Neither do I. He just pissed me off with his derisory sum contributed by us fans, or words to that intent, quote.
An interesting debate with merit on both sides. I think the gap between League One and the Championship has widened considerably over the last 5 years due to the massive owner investment in the Championship, which has equally narrowed the gap between the top of the Championship and the Premier League. The Championship is the most unfair, ridiculous competition, mainly due to the vast parachute payments for relegated teams from the Premier League. This all makes things extremely difficult for a club like Barnsley who insist that they will not spend more than their income. Virtually every other Championship club spends well over their income and pays considerably higher wages. In such circumstances Barnsley will always be favourites for the drop. However, I also agree that the board's dealings in the transfer market in the summer and more recently have been shambolic. Going in to a Championship season with such a young and inexperienced side was idiotic and the owners have to admit they totally underestimated the strength of the division. Selling a key player to a potential rival like Wigan just before the season started and replacing him with a young kid nowhere near ready for this standard was just shooting yourself in the foot. A back four lacking any experienced, older head to organise them was equally daft. The dreadful start to the season has cost them their place in the Championship and they only have themselves to blame. However, they might have recruited more shrewdly and still gone down. Such is life in the crazy world of the Championship...
Yeah but when you become abusive you lose any respect. In my eyes anyway. Perhaps you could apologise for that, and help this board set the right tone in future.
Just out of interest, do you know how much Pinnock is on? Well many on here wanted to keep him so you would have to match that at least.
Did pinnock have a clause in his contract that said if any other club mentioned a wage to him then we had to match whatever they said?
Ha ha. I think u know the point I was trying to make. We could have bettered a southern club wage but I doubt he would have stayed.
I'm not after respect. I'm a poster on a message board. If someone talks down to me and tries to act like they're better than me, then I'll tell them. In hindsight, I shouldn't have called him a condescending cnt. I should have called him a condescending person. So I'll do that.
An interesting thread, and the truth undoubtedly sits between plenty of different points posted within.
