Thing is businessmen dont give two hoots about one of their businesses going into admin. They personally dont lose out.

Breezed through the EFLs vigorous fit and proper persons test .
Can’t see it being Academy most of our players will come from there next season imo .

Surprised anyone thinks we're not in financial difficulties. And many other clubs too. We've sold far fewer season tickets at a much lower price, haven't had any other income since March but still have all the same bills and wages to pay. I would imagine the financial position at most clubs is critical. Genuinely surprised only Wigan have bottomed out so far.

Gary Tedford posted something on the tykes talk Facebook group but wouldn't go into detail. He was the one that broke the news about Stendle 24 hours before he left and he's says hold tight it's going to be a bumpy ride. But before releasing any further info wanted to be 100% before saying anything else.

I have a feeling its related to the ground and land and maybe they have bought the lot

Also just seen this posted on same group

"If little old Barnsley and its supporters have to lead the way to clean up English football then we'll do it by any means necessary. If that has to be litigation, so be it."...... Paul Conway. Speaking to the National Press about the failure of the EFL to impose credible sanctions on Birmingham, Derby and Sheffield Wednesday. Looks like Reds taking the fight to court.

is your source reliable - eg connected with the club in some way and where did he get it from
devastating to me implies going into admin - but that cant be the case or the club are already trading insolvently
Struber leaving would be bad news but I wouldnt call it devastating
Same goes for any of the players
Closing the acadamy I guess would be fairly devastating - but the progress of the likes of Palmer Styles Simoes Brown etc would point to that being a counterproductive strategy. Also if the club are going to announce closing the acadamy why say that unclaimed ST refunds are going towards funding it
so I dont know what it can really be.
Best guess is Struber is going - though if he pulls off a miracle and we win the last 2 games I would expect him to stay

I’ve also heard the rumours about the academy. Everything below U18 to be canned. So we’ll only have U18 & U23s I think.

I assume it’s a cost cutting measure but I also understand that several other clubs have similar models - Hudds and Brentford I believe????

The owners strike me as 'teddy thrown out of the cot' types. They probably want to pull the plug because of either dissatisfaction with EFL governence or criticism from the fanbase.

I agree. Barnsley are probably in a much better position financially than most clubs, but the current crisis will be putting a huge strain on that. I too am amazed that more clubs haven't gone into administration already...

It’s not beyond the realms of fantasy to see our relegation confirmed and administration in the same week. We aren’t alone remember there are league 1 and 2 clubs who haven’t earns a penny since March and plenty of basket case championship clubs will be on the edge too

We would have started in a better position and our wage bill will be less of a burden. But the owners of many clubs are prepared to fund them, see Red Rains post that shows the extent of that funding. Ours have repeated many times that they're not. The owners of other clubs will keep paying the bills. Ours won't. When the bank balance hits zero, that's it.

The problem I have with this is that transfer fees received fund the squads wages don't they?

    Isn't that our biggest cost?

Were that to happen, it's worth remembering we'd start next season in Division 1 on -12 points before a ball is kicked.
    Still, it's only rumours.

It wouldn't surpise me if we did get rid of the academy, and followed the Brentford model.

We've done well to produce the likes of Stones, Holgate and Bree, and sell them on for a decent fee. Their transfer fees have probably covered the cost of the academy for a good ten year period, but I can't think of anybody else that we've brough through the system.

How can we be when Red Rain says we're in profit unlike any other club?

We were. us and everyone else had major income streams stopped in March. As some have pointed out we were probably in a better starting position but with a board who seem to want to be sustainable (a noble aspiration) Its got disaster written all over it.
