It was an interesting film let down by the scriptwriters attempt to get into the record books for the greatest number of unnecessary uses of the F and C words.
Well acted though...and as I said before interesting...would I watch it again, probably not.

I loved it but I have one big question which contains spoilers for anyone who hasn't seen it

I get that the man in the bar was a rapist who was boasting to his friend what he had done but it turns out it wasn't THIS rape, merely another similar one elsewhere but if that is the case and he has nothing to do with this case why was he in Mildred's store threatening her? That's the one part of the whole film that didn't make sense to me. Does anyone have an explanation for it?

Another one is my guess is that Mildred's ex husband did it. He likes young women of Angela's age, he is shown to have a violent temper who has a history of abusing women and he is an arsonist (Angela's body was burnt).

This isn't a theory it anything but I found it interesting that the ex husband was depicted as being sleazy for being with a 19 year old but they chose to use an actress much older than that who was playing a 19/20 year old in a soap 7 years ago. Meanwhile the police chief was depicted as a good family man but his wife looked young enough to be his daughter. I believe this was deliberate but I'm not sure why. Is it a coincidence that in a movie set in backwards America they chose to have two important characters with much younger partners who were both coincidentally played by Australian actresses? Probably was to be fair.

It's a while since I watched it, so I can't comment on your Spoiler questions. I also didn't look that deeply into it, which was probably to do with the number of G&Ts I'd had at 39,000 feet.
