'Why are ye fearful O ye of little faith?' Was I the only one who never believed we would be relegated ? (see previous posts) What about all the naysayers on this site who were convinced we were going down - who in their posts .were critical of players/management/owners/club cat et. al. What about a slice of humble pie and an apology to the club?
Have you not met your weekly quota of controversial posts yet, Dustani? You’re second only to Nudge in the wind-up stakes.
I was convinced we would be relegated, I was, at times, critical of the players, the manager and most vociferously the owners. I have never been more happy to be wrong with my predictions and have said so in previous threads.
I have been continually saying from day 1 we would stay up although by default but had confidence in our team. Not done a dusted though is it .
There's been some poor Barnsley teams, but this wasn't one of them. Lacking a bit of nous but otherwise a decent midtable team as our last 20 or so games showed.
Nar we were crap most of the season so it's been well justified. I do however congratulate the players on the effort and determination shown, I don't think anyone ever put less than 100% into every game.
No one could have predicted tfw Wigan situation though. And we all felt Weds and Derby would get away with it ( seems like they have) I was resigned to relegation around the Sheffield Wednesday match This mini cup run post Covid has worked in our favour, the lads never gave up and all involved should be so proud of themselves for their achievements. So excited for next season, Struber and his boys surely should be comfortable next season?
And as I and others pointed out on 90 minutes of our last game the people like me who thought we were down were actually correct, But like me many others posted to admit they were wrong and declare their elation at being wrong...if it makes ya happy yes we were wrong and hope in situations like this we continue to be wrong....for the record I am 100% sure that Wigan will fail in their appeal cos the grounds for this are doomed to failure....lets hope am right
I am absolutely thrilled that we have stayed up as it stands. However, I think a lot of the criticism is fair. We have stayed up by the skin of our teeth and may still go down. There was no certainty about us staying up. We all care about the club and want to see it flourish, and we are all entitled to air our views about it. I wouldn't expect any of the posters who claimed we would be fine apologise about it in the event we do get relegated, either.
You weren't the only one. I also felt we could stay up with the talent we have in the squad. This talent will also continue to develop. The interesting thing about the naysayers is that they fall into two categories: 1. Them that have passed opinion constructively during the season and who have subsequently "gone public" on here with a recognition that GS and the squad have done an amazing job and apologised to them through this site....and in the future those people might think twice about being so quick to criticise. 2. Them that have passed destructive criticism throughout the season, making unnecessarily wild, abusive, insulting and derogatory comments about the Club, the Management Team and the Players. Those people will know who they are and they might also now congratulate and laud the Club's achievement . Some will apologise. Some will not. The sad thing is, if / when we are faced with the same struggles in future years, this second group will revert to type and kick on with the same negative and verbally destructive behaviour. Unfortunately, that's what happens in football. What we need is more patience and more perspective from our fans. Will we get it??? A snowball surviving a trip to hell has more chance.
I don't know if anyone else heard the omen that was in the adverts on sky sports just prior to the match, "don't worry about a thing" three little birds. That's when i felt we would win against Brentford and stay up. The smallest things eh!
Rubbish. if there are posters on here who can’t differentiate between the Owners and the Coaching/playing staff, they want their bumps feeling. What the latter have done has been nothing short of breathtaking. What the former have done is to create the mess. I’m hoping yesterday’s Club Statement was humble pie on behalf of the owners, they learn from it and the Club re-unites.
I always hoped we could do it but feared that we had left ourselves too much to do, both when the Struber upturn started and at re-start. What a brilliant feeling on Wednesday evening. Can I just humbly ask that we are celebrating just sneaking into the play- off places at the end of next season, a la Swansea.

I believed we’d go down because of the frequent daft mistakes we made. I thought we were playing well generally but kept, match after match, shooting ourselves in the foot due to highly avoidable mistakes.
