He’s acting in the interest of the current shortlist of potential buyers. Securing Championship status will result in a higher purchase price. Other bidders might drop out if they are confirmed as a L1 club.

Just seen on the BBC website we are being allowed representation at the Wigan appeal hearing.
To me, that demonstrates that there appears to be some positive empathy and support from certain quarters
for the points our Board have advanced previously. Our presentation is certain to increase the pressure
on Derby and Wednesday and the EFL's eventual decision on their punishment and rightly so.

We owe it to ourselves to do just that SD. Would really help our case, if some of the other Clubs
who have strictly adhered to the rules endorsed our position.

Till next season when he’s wanting points deducted from Sheff Weds/Derby etc.

If we relegated after this appeal the whole thing stinks - what’s the point in celebrating a result anymore if it can be overturned after the fact.

I don't think that tells us much. If staying in the championship is worth £10m then appealing can be justified even with only a 5% chance of success. Particularly if there is a danger that the club will go under completely if they go down.

This is soooooo out of control, thanks to the EFL, as ive said previously...
not fit for purpose....they just havent moved with the times.
Now clubs can stick 2 fingers up to the rules and when enforcement arrives they get better lawyers than the EFL and bury them in psperwork for 2 years.
Its obvious the rules are not robust enough and there is no way they can endorse them. Self regulation is a clear message for 90% of teams to cheat.
I think (hope) our owners have smart lawyers too and the start of the league is delayed 2 years with very smart lawyers battling out in court and the same every time a verdict is challanged by any club.

it was always the case hence why most of the media saying "pending an appeal"

i do wonder if wigan would have made their appeal on the 8th of july i think? if they had to pay costs up front, thus gambling 400/500k should they have stayed up anyway and not been able to withdraw it,
a 21 day wait starting from last wed/thur it probably would have been too late to overturn relegation and only open up for a compensation claim, which will be all we can hope for should they do that to us

to be honest, if either club were successful in suing the efl, difference is around £6m ish i think, plus loss of gate revenue & other match-day sales should fans return anytime soon, obviously they would try to agree a lower settlement but it's a huge leg up in terms of competing in league 1 if invested in the right players

this has always been my biggest problem with this. They lodged their appeal within a week, but were able to wait till the final table was known before committing to it. The club that caused all this are the ones to get two bites of the cherry

I must be a glass half empty type, all I see is Wigan's top notch QC being much more convincing than the EFL's poundland lawyer...and we go down!

just read this on their forum
"Well if they insist on sticking their oar in ...are the Yorkshire t***s paying a share of the costs ?

If not why the f*** not ?"

errrr probably because they're the ones who are insisting on it after going into administration and whining about the efl implementing the rules!

Feels like we’re 2-1 up with 10 mins to go in a playoff final.

cant decide whether us being there is a good thing or a bad thing. Have we been invited because Wigan have a good case and they need us to witness it so we know it’s done fairly...other than that I can’t think why we need to be there

I expect if we are sending a legal rep we are paying for him/her. Not quite sure why we should pay any of the costs that Wigan are causing the EFL to spend though

Hopefully not coming across negative but I’m a partner in a Firm that handles some of the UK’s largest insolvencies. Just taking opinion off three of my colleagues, all insolvency practitioners, who act as administrators, and not one would appeal unless they thought there was a material chance of success.

Certainly not my area of expertise but there is more to this than we know. I sincerely hope that the incompetence of the EFL does not result in our relegation.

Nixon is currently spouting off how they need every penny. How serious it is money wise.

He also spouts off they have a case against admin.

He cant do both and ignores anyone who suggests so.

By the sounds of what is coming out, they have a serious chance of having further deductions.

So, tell me, anyone, why the **** admin was avoidable

Thats my big concern as well - I also dont understand why the appeal couldnt have taken place before the matches finished then we all knew exactly where we stood. The Fact that Wigan could wait until they knew if they were relegated before they had to press ahead is just wrong on so many levels

For Conway to he confident. I get the feeling that he as some sort of evidence of what wigan owe to us what nobody knows about.
