i hope our board have got the bottle to do what they said they would do, never mind charlton, and luton, stoke, middlesbro were all supposed to be backing us
they did not go into administration though. I was under the impression it only applies if administration is entered.
I’ve been super confident from the get-go. Because the league rules, which are agreed by each member club each year before the season commences, say that any club entering administration will be deducted 12 points from their total at the end of that season. I genuinely can’t look beyond that. There can be a million reasons why they entered admin, and if they’ve been shafted then I have lots of sympathy for the staff there behind the scenes and of course, the fanbase. However, with this latest information about Wednesday and their ‘punishment’ doled out by a similar panel, I can’t help but be concerned. It’s an obscene industry. At all kinds of levels.
How can that be applied for next season - If I was a Charlton fan I would be outraged, if I Wigan get off this season as well I will be close to giving up on Football
Yes, but they’re proven to not like a punishment leading to relegation. They reprieved Macclesfield and sent Stevenage down, only in that case the efl had the right to appeal themselves afterward
Finding it a bit ironic that the same Wigan fans who were unhappy with BFC making a statement about fairness in football, are now bemoaning the points deduction for Wednesday. Hello? That was our point!!
Wednesday Wigan and Derby staying up, and Barnsley going down would just sum up the face to be honest. I hope that my worries are not realised.
If Wigan fail with their appeal then it could be a good outcome for us. Just looking for a silver lining.
You obviously know what your talking about mjt, but it seems crazy when Wednesday almost become the victims of their own overspending, hence it wouldn't be fair to relegate them because of it !!!! Let's relegate a team that hasn't overspent instead. Straightforward rules should be in place to clean up football for good.
I was going to say the same thing about cheating Olympians - you get to keep your medals this season but next season you cant win any medals - sounds about right
Can only assume it’s been applied for next season to accommodate the appeal would be a right mess if they appealed and won having been relegated and very costly to the efl etc fingers crossed anyway
