We switched from talk talk to Virgin and its been a lot better. £33 a month, telly broadband and weekend calls for first 18 months. Think it was £50 isherwood pond after that.

Been with Virgin for years - the very, very occasional outage, but usually solid as a rock. On the 200mbps package and usually get over that. Don't think it's ever dropped below 170

we have the BT superfast broadband, we get 74mbps , which is well fast enough for everything. It's reliable and fast and reaches every room in the house NP. It's never gone down since we had it (that's well over 3 years).

Whoever you go with, look them up on Quidco.com for cashback if they don't have a signup incentive.

If it's just the price that's the issue I would start by calling BT and telling them you want to cancel. Then see what they offer you. If they don't offer anything suitable then cancel. During the notice period they may well be in touch with a better offer. You can even sign up to a new service and change your mind within the cooling off period.
For most services you have to threaten to cancel to get the best deal, never stay with anyone after a deal has expired and you are at the end of Any fixed term contract. Just always be firm but polite on the phone.
These is the same for TV, phone (mobiles) car insurance ect. I always have a browse around and see what deals are available before I call.
All that said if it's the actually service you aren't happy with then move.
    I too can recommend Virgin.

Not to steal your thread, but it’s slightly related. Has anybody setup a mesh wifi network? We have Sky broadband, and even a wifi extender from them, but the wifi is hit and miss in certain parts of the house.

Plusnet, exactly the same as BT but cheaper. £22.26 a month for 66mb including line rental over 18 months if you go via Topcashback. £18.55 if you opt for 38mb.

We must have been on something similar to you, I rung BT up said I was leaving and they slashed the price sown to £22.50 per month (unlimited download + calls).

Give em a call, won't hurt

At my house I was with Directsave Telecom £19.99 a month decent speed no problem in the 2 years, unlimited downloads but no calls.

Moved in with my partner Anne, we're with Talktalk and paying £23.50, unlimited downloads but no calls, speed is good and never had a problem.

I did this recently. We have a largish house and every wall is solid rather than studwork. I had 7 powerline adapters to get wifi to the various rooms and it worked but there was a big loss on some of the far rooms and having so many adapters was stretching the limit of what powerline adapters can do.

    I bought these: https://www.amazon.co.uk/Deco-P9-Po...eywords=tp+link+deco+p9&qid=1596269797&sr=8-1

Set all three of them up inside 20 mins and have great coverage on them across the whole house and garden. I have moved virtually every device in the house (about 23) onto them and it comes with a useful app that lets me pause certain devices and set timetables for others (so no point the kids "waking up early" and rushing onto the computers - they won;t work till 7am).

    I'd recommend them to anyone.

I did a lot of research and there were a few people saying that these are nowhere near as good as others. My experience of TP Link has been nothing but good though so I ignored it and glad I did.

The added bonus is that now all the devices are moved onto the mesh network - when I change provider I don't have to go round changing all the settings again.

We've had Virgin Fibre for years and tbh I'm trying to find somewhere else to go.
The service is appalling..several outages....trying to contact them is a nightmare....the advice is always to go to your online user account...the problem is the email address used for it is not, and never has been mine...they don't seem to understand I don't have a password for an email address that is not mine.
I can't comment on speed other than to say my lad is always moaning about buffering.

I switched to Sky broadband a year ago and it's the best I've had. I've been with other providers such as BT, Virgin and Talk Talk and unless something drastically changes I won't be leaving Sky.
