They seem to apologise at all matches these days, regardless of time of day, and they never used to. Anybody who is offended by swearing shouldn't be watching football. and anyway personally i think it's counter-productive, as they're just drawing attention to it.
When I was younger I went to see them play a few times. As I recall they were in the Northern Counties league back then. So pleased to see them promoted to the football league.
Derbies against Harrogate Railway now a distant memory. Now they will be playing derbies against Bradford City and competing at the same level as Bolton Wanderers.
A football team in North Yorkshire. It’s like having one where there’s very little interest in the sport like.....oh I don’t know.....Leeds, or somewhere like that. A truly amazing achievement. Well done town.
It is. I think Railway are still in the Northern Counties league so very much the poor relations now but that wasn't the case not so long ago.
Pleased for them. Not sure how long they may be able to stay in L2, but will be an adventure. It is a shame Notts County are down there, weren't they the oldest team in the football league? I know Sheffield are the oldest club side.
It must be over 30 years since I last went to their ground. It had seen better days back then but it was always a very friendly place.
In these days of litigation and "Oy ref, that's not fair" I wouldn't be surprised to hear a few appeals from National League sides soon concerning the unfairness of Harrogate's promotion. Their pitch is artificial and, some would say, gives them an advantage. I'm not up on the technicalities of it all but what I have seen of football at Wetherby Road since it went down there does not seem to be much, if any, difference in the way the ball goes across this and real grass. They will be ripping it up because the mighty, all-magnificent EFL tell them they can't have it but I think that's a shame. With football clubs struggling to keep going at the lower end they need all the income they can get and their 4G pitch will have been a source of income from other users. Delighted to see The Sulphurites up there, for as long as it lasts. York City and Halifax must be spitting their dummies out
Owned by Strata Homes owner, who is minted. So they're a bit more of a Fleetwood/ Salford type than a against the odds club.
