Contribution to furlough scheme from 1st August I suspect focus’s the mind of management to pull the trigger when they have. Whilst our lot have their faults in the model and it’s mantra- on balance we might be lucky overall
The first of many. And given how many Gyms are massive expensive to run buildings that rely on people adding their visit as part of a daily routine - before/after work commute... People will be cancelling the DD's left right and centre.
Survival of the fittest in the gym industry Ive been impressed with how my gym has adapted to the new normal and it seems to be having a steady flow of members/ hotel guests using it. Wouldn't be the biggest shock if leisure facilities end up back in lockdown again though.
Just seen on bbc news dw sports are going into administration is this too much of a coincidence with what’s happened with Wigan as Dave whelan was in charge of them before and stumped up the appeal costs?
Wow couldn't happen to a better bloke. A huge Tory supporter. Wanted a big praise for Thatcher bo fa rejected it. Threaten to leave Wigan due to price of policing the tite fisted pr1ck. On the other hand I feel for those losing their job. Awful timing
The shop on Harbour Hill closed down last week. The gym remains open I believe though. I popped up there last week to try take advantage of the closing down sale, and there were tons of people going in the gym. Seemed very busy.
I was a DW gym member, mainly for the swimming pool there. Had an email about an hour ago to say that the Barnsley facility closed for good at 8pm tomorrow. Just what’s going to be left after all this.....not a lot.
Oh really, well there we go then. I did wonder whether it would still be viable for the Gyms to stay open now restrictions have been lifted, but clearly not. I was thinking to be fair, just on that small retail park alone, there's now 3 closed businesses. Two of which are large high street retailers who have gone into administration. The high street was dying already. In the long term, smaller local businesses may benefit from more high street space with bigger companies doing most of their business now online.
I think there was already plenty of space on the high street, they just couldn't afford the rent. I also think that bigger companies are vital for drawing people in and as long as the smaller companies aren't trying to compete with them and sell the sake items then having the bigger companies is actually a benefit to them as they generate the vital footfall
I am surprised gyms are so popular for the price they charge. For example why get a membership to use a treadmill when for free we are surrounded here in Yorkshire with lots of amazing countryside we can walk/run for miles in for free.
Shame that - the DW Shop above the gym was huge and like a hidden gem. A good set of staff and stock too.
