The thing that pisses me off with Wigan(and many other clubs fans) attitude, is how un-nerved they are at the thought of admin. It's like they think admin is simply something clubs go through, like bad form. It's not. Also, people forget why the punishments were drawn up for going into admin. Teams were using it tactically(Leicester spring to mind for some reason) to wipe out debts. The problem was, no-one in football really was affected in the mid-long term as they were guaranteed to get their cash, or the club lost it's place in the league. No, the people who lost out were the local, non-football creditors who had relied on the business of the club, so gave them credit. These were the folk who were having to accept pennies on the pound, and as such saw their own businesses go titts up. But it was ok according to the fans as they could now afford better players! THAT'S why EVERY team that goes into admin should be hit with the mandatory 12 points(including us, if it ever happens again). To stop clubs using the admin rules as a "get out of jail free" card...
Today's decision could set us back at least 3 years. Think about it. We moaned because of short contracts. Now addressed. We go down, largely keep together, and let's just say we come back up. Boom. Everyone into the last year of their contracts and another rinse and repeat 15 squad turnover. This season, we possibly got lucky, and this would now show how serious our owners are of keeping or reinvesting at championship level. Make no mistake, if we are sent down this will totally screw us over from every angle
Very much agree with this. Administration is a really horrible process. The business involved loses credibility. It loses staff. Assets. Maybe land and buildings. All for way below true value. It harms other businesses. It damages supply chains. It can put off "customers" and it can last a very long time. But in addition to that, in can come to an end and be terminal. It can result in liquidation. What I do find incredible is the razzamatazz that goes with it now. Administrators seeking limelight. Talking bullishly about possible buyers and just how many, openly. But that all this is hyped up and whipped up by sports media. I very much think we're at a time in history where truth doesn't matter as much. It's now about winning and not losing. And lies are fair game. Saying and doing anything for betterment is fine. Cheating is fine as long as you arent caught or your cronies can swing it for you that punishment is nullified or minimised. Its not just football. but football is a microcosm of Britain as it stands today. Win at all costs. and when the cost is too much, find a way to make it palatable. And if you can't do that, pretend its someone elses fault.
I think, if the panel do decide to reverse it, it will be essentially a political statement about the nature of the EFL's governance and rules. No reasonable person could conclude that a dodgy owner being dodgy (though it is morally bankrupt) constitutes force majeure. It will also greatly undermine and call in to question the ELF's purpose. If it's own rules are not worth the paper they are written on, how can it reasonably expect to enforce them in the future?
since 2006, 30 clubs have gone into admin from prem to conference north/south level. 28 have received either 9 to 12 pts deduction as it was lower at 1st. the two teams that didnt were Rushden who dissolved and weymouth (not sure with them). so usually you get full points off. im going by wikipedia so if im wrong i apologise. In my opinion wigan have to have it and take on the chin same with any club. I guess all other 29 clubs who entered admin could sue going forward it wigan get off with it. For me the only fair decision is 12 point deduction.
Reading some posts on various other Boards when Wigan first went into admin with about five or six games to go there was a lot of sympathy but also saying they’re not bothered if it saves their clubs , Charlton ,Luton, Brum Boro , etc reading some of same posters after from clubs now safe and it’s the biggest shame in history if Wigan go down . Wigan will have a lot more things in the future to worry about than just surviving another season in Championship imo . It doesn’t seem it now but it’ll be better for them as a club to go down and regroup . At least they’ve got another rivalry in their minds anyway other than Bolton .
True story, and a sign of how simple I am, but for years whilst on the road I thought Gouranga were Motorway bridge manufacturers.
The elf’s purpose is, as every child knows, to make presents for Father Christmas to distribute to well-behaved boys and girls.
I just thought they were trendy and down with the kids ......... I must admit some bridges are neater than others.
That’s a bit Millwall for my liking. In the league one season Sky seemed to love us and Stendel, and it’s only a couple of weeks since Leeds fans pretty universally told us how brilliant we were. I don’t think anyone particularly hates us. Rotherham maybe. We are relatively inconsequential to most I imagine.
Alan Nixon the journo, says todays hearing decision is ... final and binding.. So for us to be allowed to say our side of things on friday then surely we've agreed to stand by that decision... whatever.
Why have we kept our council when Wigan are leaking information out to local journos such as Kendrick?
IMHO every club that goes into Administration should suffer immediate (same season) relegation. No exception, no appeal, Admin means down.
What this is showing is that many of the worlds ITK commentators, maybe dont know as much as they like to make out. I was sure someone somewhere was going to leak something. Appears not, and the arguments rage on
