Read one comment makes me think will be shafter. Read one comment and I think will be safe. I'm like a skitso
Been saying for weeks that there's absolutely no way the appeal will be successful. It physically can't be. I've changed my mind today
Wigan still owe us an installment for Moore (possibly more depending on the deal). Hull still owe us for MacDonald - relegation on top could cause us financial problems. The very worst case is shafted today, Wigan don't pay us (and don't start/complete next season) and we go into admin as a result.
As a going concern, as it stands Wigan FC are a "basket case". Can't personally see the sense in them staying in the Championship. At the moment, no owner, selling off their better players and Academy players, all the ingredients that will lead to a struggle to stay afloat. Commercially, it makes sense to let us stay in the Championship and Wigan would stand a better chance of recovery if they played in league one. The pessimist in me says we will be shafted but ever the optimist, I hope and think we will survive and Wigan will lose their appeal.
Where’s this Moore info come from? Wigan fans are adamant they’ve paid up (obviously money they didn’t have, but that doesn’t seem to worry them). We can’t both be right!
Unless someone knows different the few times I've seen it there seemed to be some confusion with Hull. With Wigan being in admin and our open letter to the EFL people assumed the club owing us money were Wigan, but actually it seemed to be Hull?
I know I am a bit wooden ,but where has it been stated that there will be an announcement at 4pm today ?
Unofficially by some wigan student journo on twitter. He's been in communication with the QC apparently. But to be fair everything he's stated so far has been true.
From my understanding the issue with outstanding payments concerns Hull. They are arguing we failed to adequately disclose McDonald’s underlying health problems (something to do with his heart? Unsure) and are thus refusing to make payment. We in turn are saying caveat emptor and that they should’ve picked up on any such issues during his health check prior to signing.
I was under the impression that most big transfer fees are paid in installments and I have seen it mentioned on here that the next installment was due at the end of the season - in the next couple of months. Hull (allegedly) still owe us a payment for MacDonald. Wigan separately owe us a payment for Moore. We are probably also due payments for Pinnock and others sold other last couple of years *and* we owe payments for the players we've signed.
So really nobody knows , you would have thought that the Yorkshire Post & radio Sheffield would have been all over it by now , they as reporters must do plenty of digging, but hey ho what will be will be , the sooner we know the better
