Up until a few year a plenty of people also think if they go to the gym they will lose weight but continue to eat terribly. I have put a little back on recently. But when I was obese I lost around 5 stone without a single bit of exercise beyond my normal daily activities.
I’m obese but it’s not my fault. I eat on average 168% of the calories I burn off each day, which I think is a well balanced diet and completely sustainable in the long run. If I am told by a doctor or someone that I’m wrong, I point to the fact that other people eat too much, why are you picking on me? It’s just an act of God that food was put in front of me and I ate it. I demand that I be treated as if I was thin and responsible and if you think otherwise you’re part of a conspiracy against me.
There has been studies that what you eat is not that relevant if you are hitting the gym and exercising properly - burning more than what comes in. I was 4 years ago 20 stone. March I was 90kg dead and about 17% body fat. I am 92kg now. I darent check what the body fat percentage is! By Christmas I'll be 17% and under again.
I look like I’ve been kicked int back as I’m greedy with food. I’m 2 stone overweight and it’s entirely my fault.
This might be a bit harsh, and obviously you're free to act as you wish and I'm no expert so I could be miles off the mark, but I've picked on these 2 points. 1. If they (or indeed anyone) is overweight it is because they are eating too much / moving too little or some combination of the two. If they ate less but continued to move the same amount they would lose weight. This could be snacks between meals or portion size. I actually think the latter is a big problem, people really overestimate how much a small child needs to eat and what is normal. Similarly, I read a study where people thought that a child of about 10 was underweight if you could see their ribs, but actually for a child of that age this is quite normal. Edited to add link re. people's idea of 'normal' changing. This is not linked to OP but it's interesting on the theme. https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/health-12226744 2. I'd say a very small number of children would react as you've described and 'starve,' and I'll probably include myself as a child in this. They will kick up a fuss but once they get hungry enough they will eat whatever they are given, as long as they know for 100% certain that is all they are getting, and they won't get something else if they moan about it. Obviously that gets more difficult the older they get, especially if they have pocket money and access to unhealthy food outside the home.
I start back training tomorrow. Be min 2.8K in calories and 180g protein a day going forward. Cant wait for the pain.
Usually in gym for 2hrs 30mins & do around 1500 calories but only allowed 90 mins at the moment so I think I'll have to resort to going back to my exercise bike again on top of the gym
