Any ideas about the date they`ll be issued? Common sense would mean that long journeys and unattractive fixtures would come earlier than local derbies where big away crowds would help all clubs.
Tomorrow is the day for agreeing to when the season starts. That hasn't even been officially confirmed yet has it? Likely then to be 10-14 days after that for fixtures.
I read somewhere the 21st which would fit with Loko's timescale. That would be a Friday but they're usually released on a Thursday so who knows?
Can't find it on our website, but: https://www.htafc.com/news/2020/july/202021-start-date-confirmed-for-sky-bet-championship/ Also on BBC: https://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/football/53530479
Just going off what someone at the FSF told me earlier today. That there was a meeting to officially lock it in. Huddersfield have announced it though, as you've shared, so probably more like the formalities of it.
Common sense from the EFL I wouldnt hold your breath waiting for them showing any. They'll have us playing Wednesday Rotherham and Huddersfield home and away before any fans get near a ground you watch
I don't think there is a common sense approach to the fixtures. For every argument for solution A you could present one that shows solution B would be better. Away fans are unlikely until January at the earliest in my opinion, and even at that stage they're not going to want thousands of people descending on a town/city and congregating in a stand. Also, they might deem that limiting travel and hotel requirements earlier in the season is better for the spread of the virus. Who knows.
**** knows, everything's getting made up as we go along now. Barnsley might play Preston at home first on the 2nd September, but we also might play New York Red Bulls at a neutral venue (rumoured to be in space) on the 37th August 2104. With how this year has gone, everything feels made up now.
Said that myself but common sense and EFL don't always go hand in hand. For away games I would rather go to Rotherham then pay what Wednesday with charge for their dump. Bournemouth wouldn't be bad for a few days away. Let's just hope the Oxford vaccine continues to go well so Covid can be eradicated here by Christmas.
I thought I'd read 12th September as well. what's the deal with fans as well by the way? will fans be allowed to return from then? I'd assumed not? and if not, what's the crack with ST that isn't getting used? soooooo many questions.
Pretty sure it’s gonna be 12th September return, as far as fans being at those games from then (at a ‘normal’ capacity)...no chance...not unless they miraculously get a vaccine ready to administer to the public which will be near on impossible in the next month
yeah that's what I thought. have any decisions been made about STs then, in terms of paying full whack for games we're not allowed to go to? I'm sure it's all gone out in emails comms like, but they tend to go straight to my spam..
No idea personally mate I don’t have a ST atm as I have a 6 month old so haven’t been keeping track of it either, my assumption is most people who have bought a season ticket wont be able to go to at least 1/3 of the season and don’t know whether they get refunded for those games or not
Communications from the club suggested that Coronavirus had a serious financial impact on Barnsley FC, and this impact could seriously jeopardise the future of the club. Fans were told that season ticket sales were required to keep the club going. Knowing there were no guarantees fans would be allowed in stadiums, and that fans would be reluctant to renew, these communications were used to try and convince people to renew rather than risk having no club to support. The communication at the time suggested to me that there would be no plans to part-refund any games from next season that we can’t attend due to government restrictions. My assumption was always ‘buy at your own risk’, but in doing so, you’re giving your club a lifeline. I also thought that was the reason ST prices were initially reduced - the earlier you buy, the less you’ll lose if you can’t actually come!
