It’s a slow boring day at work, kids are bored beyond belief at home and probably scarred for life, I’m on a diet, it’s muggy and I’m hot and bothered and my torn cruciate damaged knee is throbbing like a *******.
    Aylott on = instant happiness
Probably the highest I ever jumped watching a match

What a night. Atmosphere in Oakwell was crackling. Brilliant cross from Banger Banks and big Trev nods it in.

I was 2/3 of way to back of Ponty but ended up somewhere down the bottom after Aylott buried that header. Great night.....

It was that rammed when we got there we couldn’t get in Ponty. Ended up on that corner between Ponty and Brewery stand. Got a cracking view of it

That night and the matches against Liverpool are some of the best memories of watching BFC I have despite us being a small second division club we went to matches believing we could beat anybody during that period. What a team

I remember running home after the match to watch the highlights on telly. I was only 13 but mi mam and dad let me stay up even though it was a school night.

Still remember it like it was yesterday, Happy Days :)

33,700 I believe. Cost me £1.70 to get in.

    Worth every penny

When we played Man City in the cup in 2013, I ended up in a hospitality suite for the match. Joe Corrigan was hosting it and gave pre- and post-match talks. We also got photo opportunities etc.

I'll give you a tip. If ever you get to meet Joe Corrigan, don't mention Trevor Aylott. I mentioned him once, and very nearly didn't get away with it.

I hugged a complete stranger when that goal went in. Excellent atmosphere that night.

I remember going to the game with the Old Man then rushing out at the final whistle to get home in time to watch it again on Sportsnight or whatever was on at the time!

Top of the charts for significance but way behind his Brighton goal for quality

More than a “nod”. It was powered in, McCarthy-esque. It went straight through the giant keeper’s arms. Good as he was Corrigan had no chance.

I doubt there has ever been a bigger roar at Oakwell. I bet they heard it in Darfield and maybe even further

I was in the standing section on the Ponty side (known then as the Terrace). Towards the end of the game it became so congested that the police allowed kids over the wall so I watched the end of the game from the cinder running track.

Games like this define what it means to be a Reds fan for many of us. Remember one of the nationals the next day said something like "City put to the sword in a bullfight atmosphere at Oakwell." Pinned it to my wall at university. Nowhere better in all the land than a packed Oakwell under floodlights.
