Butterfield worth signing up on a free? We know the quality he's got, and he's an experienced pro now.
Nah, im all for getting a few experienced players in but apart from the game vs us at oakwell dont think he was very good for Luton hence why they let him go.
Can't say I'm surprised if he has decided to move on. Struck me, that he never really lived up to his potential following his comeback from a broken leg. For me the most important pointer over the close season is not who goes, but who stays. It's imperative that we hang on to the likes of Sollbauer, Styles, Mowatt, Chaplin, Oduor etc and bring in more experienced players to play alongside them. The market is absolutely awash with players with English League experience who have been released by their Premiership and Championship Clubs. Wouldn't need to break the bank to assemble a squad capable of surviving in the second tier.
Can't see us paying £2.5m for a player, and his wages will no doubt be beyond our reach. Suspect we'll be looking to reduce the wage bill, rather than increase it.
I would guess Luton, and although I don't think he quite fits Strubers style I do think he would fit it better than Ritz. In fact, I would fit it better than Ritz
I quite liked Cam but he’s had a couple of opportunities in the championship now and not really taken them. I wish him good luck.
Williams would have been fine with Mallan, Mowatt or Moncur alongside but Hecky thought Eskimos didn't exist and number 10's were fairies.
Think I read they wanted him back on loan. I'm guessing we wanted a perm to get him off the wage bill ?
Liked him and thought even on his off days he tried his best, always looked to get in the game and didn't hide..sadly a good example of endeavor and effort being no substitute for ability, if you really need an example as Merde Tete said look at Styles. that said I like many others wish him well and hope he finds his a club that suits his style....
Never looked the same player after his short ban for whatever reason. I liked him but can’t pretend it wasn’t frustrating watching him and Mowatt put every 25 yard shot high over the bar. Best of luck to the lad.
He was outstanding against Fulham opening day, then dropped a couple of clangers and his confidence cratered and he was probably in the vicious circle of low confidence causing more mistakes, causing stick from the crowd, causing even lower confidence. If we had gone down I would 100% have wanted to keep him. I wouldn't have minded him back in this division as a squad player but if he's on a decent wage we can't be paying that for squad players and need to let go and try and kick on with players who offer better value. Overall I liked him, he always tried and I wish him all the best.
