People are looking at this as a bad thing. Look at it this way, if Oostende have got any decent lads then guess who's going to have 1st dibs on them? Win, win.
As much as you can praise Struber, you cannot say that Ritzmaier played well for us. He didn't. He's absolutely garbage. As anyone who watched the second half of the season can attest. Let's not suddenly get the rose tinted specs out just because we stayed up. I'd be ecstatic if Ritzmaier never played another second of football for us. I still don't like this move with McGeehan though. We've been very vocal about abiding by rules and having a level playing field. I hope this isn't the first step in bending them and finding loopholes. It would be very hypocriticial of us.
My point is that as much as I like McGeehan & am not keen on Ritzmaier , Struber made the call & got it right , so his decision over both players cannot be argued with , one player played in division one whilst the other in the championship , end of .
I'm not comparing one to the other - I'm just saying that Ritzmaier is terrible. And yes, he may have played in the championship, but so did George Miller. Oh sorry, I forgot to say end of. End of.
I always liked GG and I thought there was a player in there somewhere with Mcgeehan. I hope he smashes it with Oostende and comes back here a better player
McGeehan and Sibbick !!! If it was Mowatt and Woodrow I’d be worried . Think they both could be decent players , Sibbick is going backwards really in his career , couldn’t hold a place in our or Hearts team with a coach that new him . McGeehan could have still done a back up job for us but I suspect he didn’t want to come back and Pompey can’t afford him at the moment
As for rule bending if there is any. With the sham of a governing body which is the EFL. If you can't beat em' join em'.
Wasn't played as an attacking midfielder by Kackett made me chuckle Looks like another manager on thin ice.
Not sure what rules people are suggesting we’ve bent? I’d be interested to hear what, if any fee has been paid here. Seems to be a free transfer, in which case it’s just us getting one off the wage bill.
I like mcgeehan and think he was the scapegoat to Daniels overplaying at the back policy, I’m thinking birmingham away key1st goal, but he wasn’t going to be picked this season, Portsmouth couldn’t afford him and so it’s best he’s off the wage bill.
It seems a truly bizarre transfer. And rightly lots of questions are being raised. I think my initial view is that more transparency is required in football and any transfer (ideally all, but definitely transfers between clubs that are owned, part owned, controlled by the same owners) should have the transfer fee openly declared. In fact, I think I might actually suggest bans on transfers between clubs with the same owners or controlling interests/ consortia. The murk gets murrkier.
