They were rumoured to be in for him in January, but went for Fosu from Oxford and I thought that would be that. I would demand a fee higher than £3 million, which seems to be our benchmark, given their status and Jacob's assist record. £3 million plus Marcus Forss I would think to be a reasonable deal, but, as Brown is now an established Championship player, we should up the baseline from £3k to somewhere nearer £5k. Marcus Forss, though, a good striker in the making and still only 20 years old. Great record in the few games he played last season, most with AFC Wimbledon on loan. Get him in!!

We definitely need to up our game with the fees we get for players. Brown got 3 goals and 10 assists in the championship last season and still only 22, like I said was played out of his natural position for the majority. I'd be wanting closer to 5million than 3millon but knowing us were sat there waiting for the phone to ring and accept the 1st bid

Browns getting to that age where being a utility player is going to hinder him. He either needs to up his game as a striker or become a winger.

for me he's a right winger in a 442 or a right forward in a 433. The problem with this is neither of those positions are required in a 442 narrow diamond. Strubers favoured formation

i dont think hes a natural centre forward neither is he a right wing back.

I thought Brown was always a striker at youth level? I really rate him, I'd like to see us try and keep him. His game really suits Struber's style of play, and he has a good partnership with Chaplin.

Not sure if he's really a 'replacement' for somebody that has just scored 25 league goals in a season though.

I certainly think he's best suited on the right of a front 3. He thrived there under Stendel. He likes being able to run into space and drill balls across the box, or arrive late at the back post. The system we generally use, as you say, doesn't really suit him.

I'd like to see us keep him as I think he's got the potential to be a top striker. I think he could develop his game to be effective as part of a front two.

If £6m+ comes in for him though, I'd see that as good business. He's got 2 years left on his deal, aiding us to command a higher fee.

I'd love to keep Jacob Brown. Nothing appealing about shipping out one of our own before they've had time to really develop - especially those with the right attitude, temperament, and obvious love for the club and town.

Sadly though, I think he's nailed on to be leaving this Summer. More chance of Woodrow staying than Brown.

Brown is the player in our squad with the most potential. A great team player with a good eye for an assist. If we are serious about progressing as a club it would be good to keep him but he’s the obvious replacement for Watkins so think we will struggle to hold on.

Right winger, I think struber opted to play him as a striker because he is the only player we had with any aerial presence.

I hate to put a dampener on the various assessments of Jacob Brown’s transfer value but have you looked at the valuations of all championship squads per theYP today? Based upon transfermarkt valuations Watford have the most valuable at squad £181m with Sarr at £22m the highest individual. We are 20th on the list with a squad valuation of a mere £12m with Cauley at £1.4m being our most valuable asset. Totally ridiculous I know but is Brown really worth the £5/6m being suggested in this thread?
Personally I have always really rated Jacob and would much prefer to keep him here at least another season.

Has the person who work for the YP been sniffing glue while making up these valuations If we sold woodrow for 1.4 with 2 years left on his contract we minght aswell pack it in.

A player is worth what hes worth based on quality, potential and what the buyer is willing to pay and the seller can get out of them.

I don’t think he has been glue sniffing but what do l know. As I stated the values allegedly come from transfermarkt. I may have a look later to see if Cauley really is down at £1.4m.

It is impossible to put a value on a player though. They're worth whatever someone is willing to buy them for.

I agree, especially in this C19 affected world. I’m convinced the best players are of more value in our own squad than letting them go for depressed prices

it’s an argument the board won’t see, especially now we’ve stayed up it’s vindicated the sales of last summer.

let’s hope the words of contrition and recognition that came hold true

According to this piece: https://theworldnews.net/gb-news/ex...sfer-window-prediction-for-championship-clubs West Brom's ex CEO is predicting dramatically reduced transfer fees and activity in the championship this close-season as a result of Covid-19 and common sense suggests he's likely to be right. But, if Brentford sell Benrahma and Watkins for a combined £48m as is being suggested in some articles then I think we'd be silly if we didn't hold-out for a good price on Brown.

As others have suggested, a player is worth what clubs are willing to pay and as we apparently don't need to sell and want to keep the squad together if they want him I'd play hard ball with them. He's got a further 2 years on his contract and imo he'll increase in value as he gets more Championship experience. I'd rather hold on to him irrespective for another 12 months (and possibly more if he'll extend his contract) but if we receive offers I hope we're prepared to hold firm for a big fee.

We don't want to sell brown hes getting bigger and better and soon hes going to start putting the ball in the net. I've got high Hope's for brown hes going to become a good championship player soon and we should hold on and build a team. He should really command a high price and it should be met, but I would like to keep him and have a crack at the league.
