    Pompey did offer a fee, but they wanted the player to lower his wage demands, from what I’ve read.

    Especially now with the salary cap, there’s no club in league 1 that could afford him, so we weren’t gonna get a fee, most likely.

    Suppose that's it now any player who has fallen out of favour in the championship wont be moving to a league one club permanently due to the massive pay decrease.

    So no higher league players that need match time or experience or are out of favour/form.
    players that you probably couldn't afford to buy or are not for sale but could have them have on loan.
    For example Ashley Fletcher who scored important goals that led to our promotion including the play off final.

    Different with loans sometime parent clubs pay a percentage of the wage. Some players moving permanent will take the pay cut but many wont want to.

    Interestingly I read an article from a Portsmouth rag this morning that Jacket said that Mgheehan had told him that he was interested in going abroad a few weeks ago & that he wasn"t surprised that he missed out on him . It also said that Mgheehan had left Barnsley for an undisclosed fee .
