Stoke’s recruitment policy is appalling. Fair enough those two plus Moore were good players for us, but if you want promotion you need better players than those.

Only hope we have a good sell on and Wigan can hold out for a decent fee He’s certainly seems to be their biggest asset Problem will be getting what we are due if someone doesn’t buy them soon. I did wonder on a previous thread if we could put some sort of an injunction in place to stop a sale until we are assured of being paid in full from it?

The fee is already set, and we won’t be getting a sell on. They need to sell him to pay whatever they owe us for him at the end of the month.

Which is exactly why I asked the question regarding an injunction. Assuming there was a sell on, this would mean they signed him for a lot less than we might otherwise have demanded. He undoubtedly had a good first season in the championship hence all the interest. We stand to lose out all around just because they are in a pickle. I think it would only reasonable to protect our own interests

EFL will see to that. They won't transfer the club's League share unless all football creditors are paid in full.

Yup, I appreciate that, it is our interest/expectations over and above the basic fee that I’m concerned about

But if Wigan weren't "in a pickle" they wouldn't need to sell Moore (and others) so we wouldn't have got anything extra for a sell on under those circumstances anyways.

Moore doesn't stick around anywhere too long so the chances are he would be angling for a move this summer anyway. He'll have a taste for signing on fees/pay off the contract fees or whatever and he would be wanting a better club irrespective of what Wigan do.

The EFL should rule that in cases like this where a club is selling a player that they still owe money for the buying club(Stoke) pays the outstanding balance to the original selling club (Us)..any remaining money then goes to the current club (Wigan)...

Agreed but the sell on would still be in place in a season or two when Wigan would be wanting to sell before his contract runs down.

Yes I do know that, but the previous poster is concerned that we won't get a sell on because Wigan are selling cheaper than normal due to their circumstances.

I doubt that he'd be worth what Wigan paid for him in 2 years anyways. He'd be 30 years old, mid table Championship experience at best - more than £4 Million, doubt it very much

Yes possibly, that’s the gamble you take with a sell on clause, but what we should not be expected to lose out on is Wigan’s administration

All of our sell-on clauses will be severely diminished in value in the current market conditions.

I really do understand your concerns, but in this instance we'll just have to chalk it off.

To coin a phrase "**** happens, get on with it!" :)
