Justice done. Stevenage shouldn't have been relegated for playing by the book, whilst Macclesfield have money problems and got to stay up.
Justice for Stevenage. I read the report from the original judgement and the panel deliberately gave Macclesfield a penalty that didn't relegate them. They shouldn't even have been looking at the league table.
This paragraph was interesting “An EFL statement said: "An independent arbitration panel has upheld the EFL's appeal in respect of the outcome of an independent disciplinary commission who in June 2020 had considered misconduct charges brought against Macclesfield Town.” The EFL appealed the independent panels decision, they haven’t in the case of Wigan or Wednesday. I’m sure we were told the panels decision in the Wigan case was final, only final it seems if the EFL agree with the punishment.
Theyve set a precedent now, the efl, so charlton and wigan for that matter should be on the phone to the efl 1st thing
I'm not sure of the detail but the two cases were breaches of different regulations carrying different disciplinary processes. Notwithstanding that it does make the Wednesday verdict all the more disgraceful.
Justice and like others have said Charlton need to get after Wednesday, Derby and others taking the piss financially.
Stevenage have retained their place in League Two RT. Macclesfield Town relegated after EFL wins points appeal, Stevenage reprieved https://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/football/53744939
The EFL made the original decision in the Wigan case, which Wigan appealed. The independent commission made the original decision in the Macclesfield case, which the EFL appealed.
The Wigan case was the EFL's decision to start with. It was Wigan who appealed to the independent commission and lost.
Sad to see Macclesfield relegated in a way, but not really a town large enough to sustain an EFL team in the long term. Harrogate take note.
Bring back re-election and get rid of **** clubs unable to sustain League football. Too many romantics running the game.
Most football fans are romantics. It goes with the territory. Nothing wrong with chasing a dream, if it's done properly. I'll take honest, financially challenged clubs any day over the cheating sugardaddy clubs that are the really ruining the game.
Problem is re-election was more of a brown envelope job from memory. A few clubs were re-elected every season.
Can't see why that should make a difference...if their fans are happy, why should it bother anyone else?
Why? Are the better run non league clubs not worthy? Re-election was a travesty. get rid of rubbish league clubs, don’t be a closed shop with chairmen looking after each other like the bad old days.
