JACK WALTON SIGNS NEW DEAL Club News Goalkeeper at Oakwell until 2023 Barnsley Football Club is delighted to announce that Jack Walton has signed a new three-year contract! Continue reading on the official site...
Great news. Seems like he’s been here ages. Really took the chance with both hands when he was given it.
So easy for him to get disheartened after we signed two keepers last year but he kept his head down and worked hard. When he was given his chance he rose to the challenge - secured his place as #1 next season
I went up to collect my flag earlier and saw Jack in the club shop then head into the stadium as I was coming out and wondered what he was upto.
well deserved! god knows what we were thinking bringing in radlinger last summer when we had him and collins already!
Excellent news. The main reason we stayed up was the foundation at the back and reassurance he gave to Andersen and Sollbauer.
Good signing was exellent when he got his chance after lockdown two good goalkeepers fighting for the no1 spot.
Great news, I hope he starts the new season as he finished the last. If he does we have a very promising young keeper.
I’ve seen quite a few young goalies shine at Barnsley as shot stoppers. Sometimes making the easy look spectacular. But this lad stands out by a country mile. His all round play is beyond his years. Glad he’s signed a longer deal as I believe he will go on to be premier standard at this rate. ( hope I haven’t put the mockers on and he becomes like some players a one/two season wonder) Its quite a few years since we had 2 goalies where you’d not be worried about who’s playing. Got to admit. when he recently claimed the no1 spot. I was concerned he wouldn’t cope with the pressure of the situation. But without a doubt for me the star player post lockdown.
Good point he isn't a shot stopper. He's a goalkeeper who commands his area and can claim a ball cleanly. Done properly goalkeeping is an art form and he's destined for the top. Kevin Pilkington must deserve some credit too.
Great news. Pulled off some terrific saves in the last few games and can only get better. Needs to work on his time wasting, but I'm sure he'll be able to pick up some tips from the rest of the family...
I thought he looked shaky in the promotion season when Davies was on international duty, but the couple of games I saw and the highlights here and there, he was very impressive. He's bulked out quite a bit in a year and half and looks more imposing as a consequence. His handling looks very good and seems to have good reflexes too. Well done to the lad, first choice for me and his position to lose.
Same as the above poster, I wasn’t convinced when he came into the team during the promotion season & wasn’t surprised we signed two new keepers but he’s improved loads & deserves to start next season as number one but he’ll have maintain the level of performance he’s shown as Collins was pretty good as well
Just goes to show what sticking your neck art' rather than sulking can achieve. He's epitomy of what every young footballer should try n' be. Brought into side, hung art' to dry, comes back in under Stendel. Hung art' like weshin' again. Apologies for t' poor colloquialism but i'm chuffed for t' lad.
