Fair point but most of that mileage could be avoided by better utilisation of the railways.

Not an offence, but could constitute Careless or Dangerous driving, which is an offence.

Not sure on the offence but do you genuinely think it is safer to move across from lane 1 to lane 5 and then all the way back again than to just keep a straight line in lane 1 whilst keeping a check on the driver in lane 4 + any others around. Im not so sure

Eventually a government will sort this lane discipline thing out, not by enforcing the rules (too expensive) but by changing the rules to a ‘freeway’ system where vehicles can pass on either side of a middle laner. The problem is, I think that some motorists get in lane 2 and switch off, hence not moving to lane 3 when they should because they aren’t anticipating anyone moving into their lane, and being unaware if anything is approaching from behind, because there’re not taking notice. The only thing they can do then is stand firm in lane 2.
The problem with freeways is that you’ve got to have eyes in your arse. If drivers can’t handle traffic overtaking on right, just imagine the mess they’d be in with traffic coming from both sides!

I just love those that park their cars aif on the pavement and aif on the road outside their home with an empty drive.

When did parking at junctions become legal?

Happens to me an awful lot, additionally as a biker I just don’t get why people accelerate to force a bike to go even faster, once you’ve passed they back off again, whats all that about ?? The real ball ache for bikers though is when drivers deliberately stop you from filtering. One of the many joys of having a bike is not beIng held up by queuing traffic, most folk held up on a dual carriageway will move to the side and let bikes through the middle but I’ve twice in two weekends now had ‘Karen’ on the A64 to Scarborough close the gap to the car in lane 2 as I’ve been filtering, peevish at best but downright dangerous if I hadn't have been switched on. Why do it ???!!!

o/t - driving on M1 (s) this morning I noticed how the grass verges have been cut to a width of about 2 meters from the hard shoulder - seems there's a deliberate policy to leave the rest of the land adjacent to the motorway to develop as wild life havens and environmentally friendly areas.

even more o/t (but still to do with cars!) - have been given BARNSLY F C sticker for the rear window of my car - does anyone take off similar sticker if the have one if they're driving to and parking in 'foreign' parts - like Sheffield/Leeds?

As it happens, I have an active government petition to improve canal towpaths into all-year cycle routes.....

Some canals ARE still used for industrial transportation but since they are overwhelmingly now leisure facilities, the outcry against such increased use would be deafening.

The edge lines are a different colour, and you don't have to pay on the motorways.

And this is the vicious circle. Canal users want the roads to be clear enough to reach their canal of choice, but when on said canal don't want any other water traffic.
Canals are fine for transportation of raw materials etc, but not for coping with stuff that require instant delivery, therefore stuff ordered via IOT / Big data (think Amazon prime etc)

Yep, theres a massive gap and you go to move and they speed up to close it up. Keep moving into the gap, they'll **** themselves.

Quite true. On balance I think the canals are best left alone and serious thought (at government level) needs to be applied to getting the most out of the railway - which despite Beeching is still a big network for the size of the UK. And I don't mean pouring billions into massive prestige white elephants like HS2, but to properly invest in the entire network to the benefit of the whole country not just London and the south east.
