Maybe we're attempting to copy Sheffield United's strategy of promotion to the Premier League.

Can't remember where now, but I read a comment somewhere a few weeks ago that there'd been some sort of falling out between Cryne and the other owners. At the time it just looked like a piece of unsubstantiated gossip, but this suggests there was something to it.

Definitely something I'd like to understand better via Dane Murphy, but I suspect we'd only get a blanket 'can't comment on legal proceedings' type response in any event.

For now, the club's preparation for the new season seems to be progressing without issue (first signings, new coaches appointed, etc), which is the main thing I'm concerned with at this stage.

Troubling, but not something we're likely to get any reassuring news on in the short-term, I suspect.

And that would make me feel very nervous for the future of the club.

Correct. Oakwell Community Assets Limited holds the stadium.
Oakwell Community Assets is the company that holds the stadium. I have a recent land registry search that shows thats still the case( not sure how quickly the online docs change if the stadium has changed hands?)

Oakwell Holdings was the company that held the Cryne family shares in BFC 2002 Limited - the football club business (I think)
BFC Investment company is the company that owns the other 80% of the shares

As part of the sale wasnt there an 1m a year that required payment to Oakwell Holdings for 5 years or something?

He isn't a director is he? Just a shareholder (so I would suspect he's holding it in trust). The directors are the Cryne family and Robert Zuk.

He's given what he can and in my opinion the level of detail he has provided suggests it is a legitimate post. No need to shoot the messenger- I think you're being a bit harsh. It is in the fans' interest and if anyone wants to spread rumours on the back of it then perhaps aim your concerns at them, not the OP.

The only thing that I think would happen is the owners would want a new ground with less planning restrictions.

All of the wealth is the fathers, his son is not a billionaire in his own right until the generations shift. Not that it matters anyway as we don't know what investment he has in the HK vehicle and I suspect its only a minority interest. Pity they never showed us the ownership slide at the presser.

You make a valid point SD, I’ve always wondered why they bought us and wether it’s the land they’re after, opens up the old brewery site and the rest on the dearne valley for housing etc. build us a cheap 3rd tier Donny rovers type stadium just off Dodworth industrial estate and make millions for private investors and Barnsley Council by selling the land to housing developers. I remember when all this was fields and the old football ground was over there, did you go grandad, yes son until covid killed small clubs like ours and we were forced to merge with rotherham :(

I just think claiming that none of them are billionaires, and thereby implying that they are chancers of one sort or another, is inaccurate. Young Parekh clearly has an awful lot of familial brass behind him.

None of our directors are billionaires.

The nearest is Parekh, obviously. The wealth of Lee and Conway is much less obvious as I've stated numerous times. That they are buying lots of tiny clubs in distress is also a very odd move.

So no, my comments are not inaccurate. At some point Parekh will be a billionaire. Whether he has that wealth while part of an opaque ownership structure that is behind a HK firewall, who only knows.
