Pleased for the kid, he’s had a tough couple of years with injuries which at one stage looked like he may have had to retire at 24. Glad to see he’s put that behind him and Halifax are a really decent club for non league level. They’ve done really well in developing players over the years, probably too late for him now at 27 to go higher but at least he has another chance in football.

Was a great prospect when he played for us . I always thought his skill levels and his footballing brain was too good and fast for rest of team at that time . Good luck to him , he’s had a terrible last few years with injuries

Good luck to the lad. He will be happy with a club local for him and hopefully he gets another chance of playing in the football league, hopefully with Halifax. Andy Giddings will be pleased with the signing for his club.

Good luck to him. But bloody sad isn't it. Shows how much luck is involved in football. And any job really.

Such a shame the injuries he had.

Others may disagree but I think he was more talented than all of the midfield / attackers from his age group - Rose, Clark, Digby, Maris etc yet they’re all playing at a higher level than him.

Youngest player ever to appear in the EFL when he made his debut for us. There must have been a player in there somewhere. Sadly it seems injuries have played a major part in his career

I remember being at a house party in Huddersfield the week he made his debut and became the youngest player to feature in the EFL at the time and me and a friend where talking about him....next thing, someone walks in the house and I say, I swear that’s Reuben nonle Lazarus....turns out it wasn’t him it was his best mate who happens to look just like him...then who walks in after him...the actual Reuben noble Lazarus...then we are both just like what the heck just happened lol

That kid gave Simon Davey and extra month or two in the managers' job.. I say he did, Davey obviously played him so he could vacume the publicity by playing him - which he did.

A friend of mine knows him well from schoolboy football. He says that he wasn’t bothered about playing football but because he was good at it he was pressured into playing and not to waste his talent.

I saw him play in a friendly in around 2011. Think it was one away at Hartlepool (we also had a lad called "Fernando" on trial too). He was head and shoulders above everyone on the pitch that day, I was convinced he was going to be a premier league player. Nobody could get anywhere near him. I'm sure he scored twice in a 3-0 win. Coincidentally, it was "Fernando" who ended up in the Premier League the following year.

I think playing so regularly at a young age has contributed to his constant injury problems. Such a shame.

In doing so Simon Davey probably ruined RNL career.

Totally agree with this. The lad was a shiny bauble which Davey used to to distract people from Davey's own failings.

Good to see Reuben getting back up to a decent level of football. He was playing in the North West Counties at Golcar last season.

    Who was Fernando?
