I don't think Hearn ever said this was a world title eliminator? He's been saying all week that if Whyte wins then negotiations for him to fight the winner of Fury v Wilder had to start the very next day. He did need to take those fights though. It was the only way he was going to improve and be good enough to win a World Title. Fighting no-hopers and sitting on the sidelines was of no use to Whyte. He's always had that vulnerability, so every fight he's had has been aimed at taking some of that away each time. He was boxing superbly tonight. Looked really, really tight. And then bang.
Its a boxing thread ive linked the two subjects its light hearted obviously Wasn't expecting a answer if he did reply which it looks like he has its exactly the reply i expected he would answer with
Thoughts on the upcoming match between dubois v Joyce?..... Nobody has really tested dubois as yet and I'm not really a fan of Joyce, seems way too slow.
I understand what you’re saying, and I agree to an extent. However, he 100% did not need to take that fight tonight at all. He could’ve sat back and waiting until Matchroom and WBC came to an agreement regarding his mandatory position. That’s what I was getting at. I don’t want to fault him, I wish the whole of the division had his mindset and took on the risky fights, it’s what us as fans want to see. I’ve a feeling it will but I’m hoping tonight’s loss doesn’t really halt his chance at a world title, permitting he wins the rematch Ofcourse. No heavyweight deserves an opportunity at the title more than Dillian Whyte, in my opinion.
He didn’t do anything for the fans. He did it for a pay day on PPV. I’ve never known a fighter turn down so many opportunities & get so many PPV fights yet claim to be hard done by. He could’ve fought for the WBC title by beating Ortiz in a final eliminator, instead he decided to rematch Chisora as he thought he’d get more money. Could’ve had a final eliminator with Pulev for a shot at the IBF belt but decided to face Rivas on PPV instead as he didn’t want to travel to fight. Could’ve had the fight with Joshua last year when Miller tested positive. Instead he turned down the opportunity & Ruiz stepped in & beat him. It’s all spin by Whyte, Hearn & Sky. Living off Joshua & Fury’s names while making fortunes on box office. Delighted he got knocked out, probably the British boxer I dislike the most. Two failed drug tests as well.
I like Joyce. He should be Olympic champion right now & I think if he can get to say round 6 then he’ll win the fight as he’s got an incredible engine but he’s hittable & Dubois hits very hard & is very good so I’d guess Dubois stops him early. I think it’s a really bad styles match up for Joyce, I think he could have competitive fights & potentially win against Parker, Whyte, Chisora, Pulev etc but I think Dubois’ all wrong for him
