Wikipedia: Shea joined Championship club Barnsley on loan from Stoke on January 1, 2014, and made his debut against Birmingham City the same day.[20][21] He played eight times for the Tykes before he was sent back to Stoke on March 10 after he was involved in a post-match confrontation, during which he made an offensive gesture towards Barnsley supporters, following a 5–0 defeat against Huddersfield Town.
The worst player we've ever had. We had some bad players that season, Tom Kennedy, Scott Wiseman, Emmanuel Frimpomg. None of them hold a candle to the footballing ineptitude displayed by Brek Shea. Absolutely awful player, and then had the cheek to flag the Barnsley fans after a 5-0 defeat, in which he was most probably, the worst player on the pitch. Thank the christ I went to Harry Potter World that day instead.
I’ve actually Got that Match worn shirt he’s wearing...seriously, on our charity walk to Bradford I told Ben Mansford that Brek Shea was my favourite Barnsley player of all time, I’d have got away with anorl if it was for that pesky Whitey eventually telling him I was taking the piss, so next home game Ben Mansford presented me with Brek Shea’s match worn shirt with the words...even the kit man didn’t want it , it’s still hung up in my wardrobe,
Frimpong could've been a decent enough player if he'd had a completely different attitude. He had 1 decent game soon after joining. Shea on the other hand... bad.
Not defending what he did. He should have just walked away. But if my memory serves me right. I was very close to the incident. Dawson was clapping the fans ( rightly or wrongly) a lot still do after a heavy defeat to in effect say sorry for a **** performance. The dogs abuse that Dawson got was in fact totally unjustified as he was the only one trying to say sorry to the fans and front it up. 2 grown men in front of their kids ( hanging over the perimeter wall 1 of em) coming out with more vile abuse than you could possibly comprehend. I knew em both and was thoroughly ashamed to see such vitriol. Dawson approached the fans as if to offer up an apology. They ( the fans) started with the threats. Shea walked up and pulled Dawson away. And got the same abuse thus the finger. To be quite honest i can think of one or two players who would have reacted far worse. Reminds me of the Time Eaden waved at his pals who were sat at the side of me.( Birmingham play off semi away) But was accused of givIng it the wankre sign. By a mate of mine and reported as such in the chronicle. Effing LIAR and told him so . He had a bee in his Bonnet about Eaden. Totally unwarranted and indeed childish. As an aside Dawson came on after 77 minutes.( to replace FRIMPONG ) Shea 55 minutes.( to replace Jennings)
