37 years at Royal Mail now for me and i didn't think it could get any worse but it is and is going down the pan fast. Unbelievable what's happening, no wonder they got a 1.6 million pounds fine!
The guys I worked with who'd done that length of service had been there when Royal Mail was a real part of the fabric of the community. Looking out for the old folk, even getting the fire going in the morning for them on occasion. Stuff you couldn't put a price on. It must break your heart seeing all that thrown out of the window as it turns to rubbish in front of your eyes. It's gone the way of most industries I'm afraid. Short sighted management who are only interested in this year's profit and loss and would rather save a penny today than a pound next week.
Spot on i still have the old values and help people but you don't have the same time now. NOTHING as far as i can see as got better from privatisation!
i deliver to an old dear with a very old jack russell which rushes to grab her favourite toy wanting to play, i will be heartbroken whichever dies 1st as the other will probably soon follow, they live for each other and would love an extra few minutes a day but technology dictates how long you are stood still, i got hauled in twice the other week why my pda was static! profits are priority
