Mowatt hasn't signed a new contract yet. Not saying that means he doesn't want to stay, but it hardly instils confidence that he'll be a Barnsley player beyond this transfer window. The longer that drags on the more realistic it is we cash in on him.

In fairness the fact we maintained our championship status means little, money talks and fact is we are still one of the lowest paying Championship clubs because we’re smaller. Keeping a player for example like Woodrow, is literally as good as signing a player like Woodrow. Barnsley will always have to fight to stop players wanting to go to clubs where they can get double the money we pay

Completely agree. We managed to gain a year of championship experience in very very young players, which was a very high risk strategy (and fortunate as it panned out). It's time to have more stability at this club, though that never seems to pan out!

My view on that is. Most clubs will have to reign in the purse strings. And follow the example at Barnsley to keep within budget. Only the clubs still willing to chuck megabucks at trying to reach the premier will be throwing money around. And they will become even less if a salary cap is enforced.
Will be interesting in a couple of years time when contracts run down to do a comparison on average wages paid in the Championship or any other division for that matter compared to last season.
Winnall as far as I can tell not got a club yet and was released in June. He ain’t gonna be getting what he was on at tarn never mind wendies in my eyes .
If it had been This time last year he would have got a club by now. Pretty sure of that.

We’ve done really well so far to retain our team, I’m sure that we won’t be going mad and bringing 3 or 4 in. On Winnall you have it bang right, his lack of game time and previous injuries would make any CEO wonder what kind of return he’s going to bring. I can’t see him joining a championship club again at all.
