OK downloaded and it works - I can see the Newcastle highlights + last seasons games. It replaces the old app which was Barnsley specific and so has an efl logo instead of a Barnsley crest which is disappointing I am also a bit puzzled how it works if you want to watch a different club since it used my email and password to login and took me straight to the Barnsley site. If I wanted to follow a second side (I dont but some do) how would that work would you need to use a different email
I would assume so buddy. I don't understand the change myself, but it does seem to play better and looks better once playing.
It requires ios11.2 or later... Which my old iPad doesn't have. Great, those season tickets for me and my lad were money well spent :-(
I picked up an ancient old laptop for just a few quid which I use almost exclusively for iFollow, hooked up to the main TV via HDMI. HD live on the proper telly, can't beat it
Thanks YTBFC. I think we've tried before but didn't have these instructions so will definitely give it a try.
Yes, they are. It’s something I mentioned in another thread pal. And it’s something the EFL tell us will not be fixed. When they migrated the old content from the last platform to this so called improved platform, it ended up out of sync. I was straight onto them asking what the crack was. They say it can’t be fixed but all new content will be chronological in order of appearance. Which is the case. You might notice that the only content they’ve carried over from the past, are highlights. Another issue I raised. Another thing they say won’t change. So hundreds of our old video uploads over the last God knows how many years, they’ve all gone. This astounded me because we weren’t told this would happen. Unfortunately, we are tied into this central EFL deal long term. So no amount of crying from me will change owt. The platform does seem to look and play content better, so I’ll give them that. It’s also easier from our end to upload to ifollow now.
I am glad someone else needs to know. Eventually updated my phone after it initially not recognising my login detail. Seems I am not the only one with that issue. . I want to watch this seasons games via my laptop so do I need this on my laptop or not, if so what do I do?
Your login on the phone app is the same login you'd enter into the website version. If you're watching on your phone, use the app. If you're watching on the laptop/PC, use the website. www.barnsleyfc.co.uk/iFollow
Not every one of them, no. Nobody before me seemed to think retaining/maintaining an archive was a good idea, but that's another story. However, since 2016 and my arrival, I've been saving lots of footage on an external hard-drive. So I began it from 2015/16 to present day. Every game's highlight package, every set of photos from each game, every recap, all the goal angles, the odd interview that's worth keeping such as a new signing or head coach etc. Every game's audio commentary, so I've about 200+ files of Matt Bailey talking for 90 mins. All the graphic templates from each season so as not to forget what we've used, miscellaneous stuff like hospital visits, the hospice, military day, fanzone videos, fan forums, photoshoots, kit launches. And then every bit of content that's been in the programme over the last four/five years. Plus an historical section with every game I've been able to source/find against every club. So, there's a folder with for example Rochdale on it, and every bit of Rochdale related footage on. A folder with every player to play for us (within reason) and photos within them. So it's a very precious piece of kit, and a real love of mine, being the sad twât that I am. It'll be my gift to the poor sod replacing me one day. If anyone has any online footage they think is relevant, feel free to drop me a private message and I'll add it to the archive. Also, if your next question is "are you going to repopulate iFollow" with all that footage, I'm going to say no, not right now. I don't have the time. But maybe when we finally get to a proper -off-season' I could look at that. But knowing the EFL, they'll update iFollow again and that renders it all pointless.
Blimey that's a lot of footage to have stored but due to the ego's incompetence it's proved worthwhile definetly. I wasn't thinking of uploading it all, just that it would be good to be able to maybe a relevant matchday recap before a game like a sort of last time out thing
The recaps are all still on youtube in fairness. In an ideal world mate, we'd have our own platform but we are tied into this central contract long-term and, even if we weren't, it's expensive to do it all in-house. We went from a four-man comms team to a three-man last season, so we have to sometimes accept that our goals aren't reachable. Not that we won't keep trying to improve things of course.
To be fair anything older than about 2013 won’t be able to update to iOS 11. Can’t be expected to have devices supported forever and there are genuine reasons apps can’t just support old versions, but it’s not necessarily as easy as “just update it”.
Oh yeah. Ignore that then, I forgot what was YouTube and what was ifollow. It's frustrating that it's 2020, there are so many different systems to use and the EFL always seem to choose the worst option. I don't think the dreadful website when Rob Knowles was here will ever be beaten. Premium TV or something I think
My bad then. I thought they just always updated. For the gentleman affected, if you're still struggling buddy, you can still use iFollow outside of the app.
