Agree YN. There are parts of the surrounding areas though that if you pay your rent two months
consecutively, the coppers call round to establish where you've got the brass from.

Got to say - if you are born and bred in Donny and you have no relatives with a connection with Barnsley - then you should support Donny.

The reason I and many others hate the Sheffield and Leeds clubs is because of the big following they have from Barnsley - when vast majority of these supporters have no links to those cities.

Im a strong believer that everyone should support their local club.

I'm guessing tomorrow we will make an improved bid for him.

Thing about Donny - which I think causes the snobbery - is that there are areas where there is money.
Most of the Barnsley area looks the same.
That’s not the case in Donny.
For example - two of my relatives neighbours were on The Times Rich List.
What happens when things are like that is that people want to know who you are and what you’ve got.
    Horrible!!!

Hence the reason I’ve baby sat for the owner of Harrogate Town.
And one of the kids I was looking after is now the manager of that club.

BTW - the neighbour on the other side of my relatives was founder and owner of Poly Pipe.
His girlfriend was a mate of my aunties.

Haha know exactly what you mean, I lived in Wheatley for over a decade and hated telling people where I lived as it's one of the less affluent areas of Donny shall we say but I've moved now to Sprotbrough a couple of years ago which is a much more affluent area and I'm now much more forthcoming about where I live, wife's from Bessecar another of the nicer areas and she always chuckles when people who live in the neighbouring area of Cantley say they live in Bessecar instead

PS. I'm originally an Athersley lad and proud of it so I'm hardly from a posh area myself

Mowatt has been offered a new contract. If he doesn't sign it he will be off. This lad looks a good option & we have Callum & Romal, who surely deserve game time after the last 9 games. We are going to lose a couple, as long as it isn't more & we find quality replacements that is OK. The Plan will always involve us selling a couple of players we have developed.

******** to all this 'Doncaster folk are more snobby than Barnsley folk' view. Utter tripe. There are snobs anywhere you go. There are total snobs in Grimethorpe and in Lundwood. There are snobs in Wheatley. Snobs abound. It's a snobfest. It's not the town its the people..as I say, anywhere you go.

All those areas are very nice especially Cadeby they must be worth a Bob or two to live up there its great walking around there too, I've actually just got back from taking the dog for a walk in Melton woods.
Me and the lad sometimes take a stroll around the village and down Park Drive to look at all the Lamborghini's and Ferraris in the driveways

I wouldn't dare call anyone from Lundwood a snob, unless I was in a car with the window wound down & with my foot hovering over the accelerator...

I don,t get all this bidding game obviously you manke an enquiry they say we want 2 million for him,ok.
We offer say 750,000 then increase it to 1 million they say no we want 2 million what’s the point in wasting your time and their time.
Either pay what they want or don,t bother ,move on.

I’m going to take a wild guess and say you’re not a successful business man, are you?

I’m born, bred and still live in donny.

I’ve honestly never witnessed any of this perceived superiority over Barnsley. To me, and to those I’ve associated with, there are many more similarities between the towns than differences. Although I haven’t worked in Doncaster for 14 years, nine years in Leeds and nearly 5 in Wath / Manvers before that.

I have met some generally snobby buggers in Donny though to be fair. The majority of what they now deem to be Cusworth is actually Scawsby, Cusworth was just the little village and the hall and grounds. Not any more.

My two younger kids go to school in Sprotbrough - Richmond Hill mind you, not Copley up in the posh bit :)

For the record I live in an ex-pit house in Scawthorpe...

That's all well and good but i live between Barnsley and Leeds actually in West Yorkshire but i went to Oakwell with mates 38 years ago so that's why i support Barnsley. Many say Leeds are my local club but i don't see it that way.
