WOOD YOU LIKE A CHAMPIONSHIP MOVE?

Barnsley, QPR and Charlton are among a number of clubs interested in 21-year-old winger Sorba Thomas.

Thomas has impressed a host of Football League scouts during his performances last season for Boreham Wood.

It now looks likely he will be playing in the Championship next season.

Someone should inform Sky Sports that Charlton aren’t in the Championship

Be a bit of an underwhelming Brown replacement but they did pluck Simoes from non league

I assumed it was a pun because he plays for Boreham Wood, but given the standard of Sports journalism today it could easily have been a spelling error.

Someone should inform our owners that we can’t take a gamble with youth for every single domestic transfer....

Someone should also tell supporters that not every rumour is a reality/fact, not every signing is a replacement for a departure, and that the only real time to judge our recruitment ahead of this season is when the window closes.

Signing a player from Boreham Wood would to me suggest a planned long term signing rather than one we’re making to replace someone leaving for £5 million

where are you getting £5m from mate? Would be astounded if he was going for that much. Because that would actually represent reasonable business..

I posted it earlier mate but seen various sources (using that word very loosely but as valid as the Stoke paper) say it's a deal rising to £5m. I'm being pedantic using that figure though because of all the posts saying Toney went for £10m when it was only half of that in reality for now.

Point taken but I’ll wager any signings we make will have no experience at the level we’re playing at, or even the one below.
I’d be more than happy to be proved wrong of course!

Genuine question mate but what would you class as experience at our level? Where does Frieser sit in your opinion in terms of football experience? Understand he has zero experience of the Championship, but 100 games in the top division of Austria and ten games in the Europa League is good football experience to me. Takes those kind of signings a lot less time to understand Championship football as Sollbauer has proved.

    He's Greek isn't he ?
Could be fun watching him mince up and down the pitch.

Frieser is fine experience wise to me. Played at decent level. The Christie-Davies signing may end up good business but it’s unlikely he’ll be ready for the Championship for a while.
We used to make good signings with games under their belts from the level below (Hourihane, Winnall, Scowen etc) and that’s what I’d like to see us do now.

Christie-Davies has considerably more experience than Clarke Oduor had this time last year. I think we're in a much better position this time around because we are only trying to bed in one or two new players, as opposed to an entire back 5. Because of that, we can have the luxury of giving a promising young lad the luxury of his football league debut, because he's got more battle hardened players around him.

From what I understand, they've been working on reducing their wage bill, as last summer, it was at an unmanageable amount.

Think most of the players have been snapped up from league 1 level who look like they could make the step up, hence looking in other countries more.
