My take - always a shame when one of our own departs. A good player, underrated by some. Will improve too. However his type, a hard working, pact forward should be easy to replace. Also a replacement may fit more naturally into the system than brown has. If 2 million is the price, not amazing, but we are Barnsley. We never sell for big money. I can accept that. 2 million should get a decent replacement or two however the thing that gets me is this reluctantly accepted line. What happened that meant you had to accept this offer albeit reluctantly. Mowatt I could understand - 12 months left on contract - but not case with Brown. The only reason you should except if you didn’t want to is if the player demanded a move, downed tools, refused to play etc - there is no indication that was the case So why not be honest with us? It was a good offer for a player we felt we could replace and the money will help towards bringing in replacement and also helping the club during these uncertain Financial Times
Sky court the agents pretty heavily to get their rumours and fill their air time. Sometimes they help agents put players in the shop window and arrange interviews off piste. Remember Yiadoms when he was trying to force a move? That sky have quoted that fee, I think its fair to say its likely to be in that sort of region.
Just because someone says it's £2m, doesn't mean that that is true. We'll never know for sure since they will never release that information officially. I wish him all the best. I hope we'll find a decent replacement soon.
Best of luck Jacob. Good player, with the potential to be very very good. Celebrated every goal as though he'd scored it himself which always made him a fan favourite. I firmly believe his goal against Walsall won us promotion the season before last.
"it is now the time that I move on" He forgot to finish the sentence with because money talks. He's had a couple of good seasons for us and won't be forgotten for helping get us promoted and then keeping us in the championship. I just think he's more replaceable than if we lost say Woodrow.
Is this the same Sky that are well known for stealing other journalists stories and reporting them as “Sky Sources” or employ people like Kaveh Solhekol who has come up with exactly zero information in his career ever. Sky will have quoted the figure that the Stoke Sentinel have released. I’m not saying it’s not 2 million I’m just saying there is no actual evidence and quite frankly I don’t trust Sky in the slightest.
And it doesn't say significant or anything. We might have received a 10 quid deposit up front for all we know.... I do hope its 20% and not 20% of profit too. Still, if it is a good chunk, hopefully we have replacements in mind for the first team
Thank you jacob and all the best for the future. Good pro, only still young and still learning his trade. No world beater but always put a shift in and sweat blood for the shirt. Thank you and please dont score against us!
Its your choice to trust who you wish. Do you trust Andy giddings? Who reported it as "a decent chunk of money"? Does "decent" sound much to you?
If you want to take all information you’re given without any sort of cross-examination that’s fine but just because you read it, doesn’t mean it’s true.
No we don’t have to go with it at all but it does suit some people’s agenda. No doubt by the time the transfer window closes it be accepted as factual and written into folk lore
Don’t get me wrong, he’ll be getting paid a lot more, and I can’t fault that, but do you honestly think he’s moved purely because of money? I’m all for the rose tinted glasses perspective, but he’s joining a decent sized club that’ll probably be challenging for promotion this season. It’s not like he’s joined a club the size of Wycombe, bankrolled by some oil state.
